An old but good read. Glad I came across it.
My problem with this Afropolitan narrative is that it, in fact, applies to a very select population. When we don’t poke at the narrative to see its limits, when we don’t ask what is the obstacle to cosmopolitanism for Africans and when we don’t trace the political and deliberate origins of this condition we are not being honest with ourselves.
