In Guatemala, Indigenous youth shape their own future
Ixil Mayan youth are reclaiming their identity and advocating for their rights, with support from AFSC.
Palestinians are not "human shields," they are human beings. They are not obstacles to be bulldozed through. They are not simple statistics or acceptable losses.
They are people. Civilians. There are parents and children, teachers, doctors, bakers, journalists, families.
The U.S. must work to immediately de-escalate to prevent the further loss of life, and not fuel and exacerbate the violence by sending more
A growing number of people in the U.S. want elected officials to take action by providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians—while calling on
I know most people are understandably wary of Christian organizations but I implore y’all to support the AFSC if purely for the fact that they are pro-Palestine and have been working in Gaza to give school supplies to children there. They’ve also been providing hygiene products and aid to elderly citizens there.
They’re pro-LGBT+, pro-immigration, anti-colonialism, pro-BLM, and pretty left-wing in general. And despite being a Quaker organization they allow anyone to work with them regardless of religious views, without trying to convert them.
Needless to say, these guys rule. While I do suggest donating directly to verified Palestinian fundraisers first and foremost, donating to these guys if you want to help people who are currently in Gaza is also a very good option
The US is complicit in the massacre that's happening in Gaza. They are on the wrong side. Bother your government officials. They are guilty. Hold them accountable.
American Friends Service Committee and Friends Committee on National Legislation co-signed a letter.
"Human rights abuses Palestinians suffer include “arbitrary detention, house demolition, and collective punishment,” said Sam Bahour, a Palestinian whose children attended Ramallah Friends School.
Israel punishes Palestinians as a group, using destruction of infrastructure and confiscating of dead bodies, for the actions of Hamas, according to Bahour, who works as a business consultant and independent political analyst.
Asked to comment on the argument that Israel needs U.S. military aid to ensure its continued existence, Bahour said that the approximately $4 billion the U.S. sends to Israel is a small portion of the Israeli economy. Israel has a $550 billion economy so if the U.S. cut off aid, settlement activity would decrease but Israel would not face an existential threat, according to Bahour."
