By all means not an expert, but progressive Christian’s saying they won’t get “political” when discussing Christianity or on their religious blog is a little strange and misguided. Homie the Bible IS POLITICAL and radically at that. Feeding the hungry, sheltering the poor, anti-violence, and anti-war is political. Taking care of our planet, Uplifting your community, and loving your neighbor is political. Politics isn’t just discourse on policy, politics stretches and defines every part of our life. By finding the good in humanity you participate in politics, and that’s a good thing I promise.

I go, we sit in silence for an hour while half of us do some sort of fiber art to keep our hands busy, we end the meeting and start talking about helping our community, and then someone usually starts talking about a special interest while the rest of us hype them up.

British Quakers defend trans inclusive restroom policy, defying local transphobes and British authorities
In a letter the British Quaker's Trustees of Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM) explains and defend their May 2025 policy on trans-inclusive facilities at the Friends House London headquarter. The letter includes a severe criticism of transphobic Quakers.
Quakerism or the Religious Society of Friends is almost 400 years old. Central to the Quakers' belief is the doctrine of the ‘Inner Light’, or sense of Christ's direct working in the soul. They are known for their openminded religious tolerance and their focus on peace.
Friends House is the central offices of Quakers in Britain, located in London.
The letter responds to criticism from Sex Matters to Quakers (SMtQ) a small, informal group of transphobic and separatist "LGB" Quakers in Britain regarding trans people's access to restrooms.
They clarify that BYM Trustees are accountable only to the Yearly Meeting. The policy implements Minute 31 (2021), which commits Quakers in Britain to welcoming trans and non-binary people.
The trustees write that they have balanced three aims: upholding trans inclusion, ensuring safety (especially for women and girls), and providing equitable access to toilets for all attendees.
After having reviewed legal guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission and relevant UK legislation, they reject options that will “out” trans people or restrict their access, deciding instead to relabel existing facilities as trans-inclusive.
They point out that safeguarding procedures remain in place. Meeting for Sufferings ( a representative decision-making body of British Quakers) subsequently affirmed the approach. Feedback from Yearly Meeting attendees was overwhelmingly positive (96% satisfied).
The letter also rejects transphobic rhetoric in the correspondent’s materials, saying that misgendering and conspiracy theories about “trans activists” are unacceptable.
The letter of July 16 points out that:
Deliberate misgendering of a person is transphobia.
Referring to trans women as men is transphobia.
Assuming a trans person poses a risk simply for being trans is transphobic.
Stating that trans men are vulnerable and “groomed” into transition is a transphobic trope.
References to “trans activism” as anything other than the legitimate effort to protect and advocate for the rights of people who are trans or non-binary is transphobic.
Alleging that Quakers have been “infiltrated” by trans activists is a transphobic and offensive conspiracy theory.
The notion that supporting and advocating for the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of trans people could be damaging to the Religious Society’s reputation, or even “might be the thing that finally destroys them” is shocking and dangerous. It is fearmongering, threatening, and extreme.
There is a lot to learn for other Christian leaders in this letter. This is how you reveal and stop the hate activism of TERFs and other transphobes. This is also how you address the transphobic restroom policies of the British government. You simply see through the bigotry and behave with respect, understanding, compassion and love.

Catholics and Protestants alike get very mad when Quaker theology. Like I'm sorry that I think of Jesus as an all loving being who cares for every person equally even the trannies you don't like. But I'm also like way happier than you and have a more consistent philosophy than you so maybe you should take some notes
