HE'S FINALLY GETTING THERAPY, HALLELUJAH
( @her-mighty-roar )
Erie was not an elementary student — but attempting to explain that he was quite older than he looks and defending himself without revealing that he was avoiding his very real status as a highschooler was kind of impossible. In hindsight, he really should have stuck closer to home to be a truant. He could have hidden while waiting for his nan to leave for work. He didn’t have to wander around the city and lurk apparently too close to a school. He followed the teacher who had a firm grasp on his elbow simply because when he’d tried digging his heels into the ground her grasp had only tightened and Erie wasn’t a fan of that sensation.
He reckoned that if he didn’t quiver with fear every time an adult raised their voice at him, he probably could have gotten out of the situation with little drama. As it was, he followed her to the recess court where he was abandoned by her, wincing at the telltale sounds of dodgeball and overactive children playing looking for victims. He edged farther away from the sounds, hoping that if he made himself small enough they’d be uninterested in throwing balls at him.
He was, as usual, very wrong. It wasn’t so much the sudden force of the ball connecting with his face that made him fall over as much as it was the sudden realization that all life was is a ball to the face. Erie stared blankly up towards the sky, slowly reaching up to put a hand over his face. His eyes were still there even if only in form, his nose was not bleeding although it was sore to the touch, and his lip was only a little bloody from biting them like a nutter. He probably did not look like as much of a surreal Picasso painting as he felt.
“I crave the sweet embrace of death.”
