My staycation is off to a really good start, I had some things planned out - nothing major but I’m just glad that the weather looks like it’ll be cooperating for the majority of the week, I’m hoping on doing some day hikes if I can. I’ve got a small checklist for myself, one of them was to pick up a couple of odds and ends, clean the house, and maybe get in some well needed down time. No I’m not travelling anywhere or doing anything fancy, I’m just going to relax - it’s been a long year. Guess on social media we don’t always see the worst of the worst or the mundane but it’s good to be reminded that everybody has those sorts of things in their lives. Not every day has to be the best or even exciting and typically it isn’t. I’m happy to share the less talked about bits because we’re all in this together. No car, no problem! This is the first solo hike I’ve done and it was a great time. Took 4 hours 6 minutes, 19 kilometres, 2 buses, 5 bucks, 208 flights climbed, 29 thousand steps, 1 iced protein matcha shake, 2.5 litres of water, 3 coats of bug spray, and 1 hefty coat of sunscreen for me to complete this hike. This is also the first time I’ve done Sugarloaf Path in its entirety. The trail wasn’t super busy today, it was hot as hell but I’m more than glad I did it. If there’s something I love it’s challenging myself. Even if I’m sticky, sweaty, dirty, and feeling like I’m melted in my own skin. You don’t gain anything taking the easy way out. Life is strange like that where the hardest things are usually what gives you the best but it makes sense. It’s amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it. Especially if you reach that extra little bit to accomplish your goal, the amount of pride you get is something that I crave for. You want to be more than just average - do it! Go for it! It’s that drive that sets champions apart from the common man. Never give up. You have to have faith in yourself to do what you need. It’s why I do these things, it’s why I love lifting. Because there’s nothing cooler than seeing what you can really do when you have your mind set on becoming the best you can be. Anyways, I’ll definitely be doing this again at some point in the near future.
