Inktober - WEEK 3: Mirror (Andrew and Aaron Minyard)
the second son
Headcanon that Neil can cry on command. He used it to get out of a lot of bad situations when he was younger, to guilt trip people when he got caught stealing from stores, to make people think he was less capable than he really was. And the foxes found this out when Neil was just trying to stir the pot. He and Aaron had been talking and Aaron had said something he hadn't liked so he'd just pulled out the tears and was like "what the fuck Aaron why would you say that" and walked away. And the room exploded behind him with people asking Aaron what the fuck he had said and Aaron was like "all I said was being a math major was stupid."
i think one day in bee's office, aaron asks andrew why he wears his armbands. aaron had assumed when he first saw them (thanksgiving), that they were wounds from a monster like drake, and that's not something to be shameful of--they both know that.
andrew doesn't answer for a while, jaw clenched in contemplation and bee just watching silently to see how this turns out. after a few minutes of tense silence, andrew lets out a sigh and says "I did these," with a tap on his forearm.
aaron's eyes widen in confusion, then they fill with understanding. he slides the end of his shorts a bit up to expose the outside of his upper thigh, where his own scars lie. with a coy smile (because he can be obnoxious like that) he looks up from the pale lines of healed tissue and locks eyes with andrew before letting out a "matching,"
that's where the session ends, but both of them have clearer insight of the other's suffering and growth. a newfound connection and quiet understanding.
andrew, who thought that his scars would be interpreted as an act of weakness, finds that they can't be. not if aaron carries those same scars with him, too.
and aaron, who at some point thought of his brother as a heartless monster, smiles at the proof of his emotions. that they match. they both went through shit, but survived through it all and here they were.
Just thinking about how Aaron said “minyards don’t get any higher than rock bottom” and then became a neurosurgeon and his brother became an Olympic athlete
Andrew vehemently denying there’s anything going on with him and Neil
Aaron: “Liar.”
Aaron: “I like Neil’s promise ring.”
Aaron: “Then break up with Neil.”
Aaron: “Says the man dating a mafioso”
Literally just siblings bullying each other
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABYGIRL
ITS NOVEMBER THE 4TH YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS >:3
“But Aaron knew who was calling, and he was too excited to wait on his mom to hang up to find out the details.”
thirteen y/o aaron being so excited to meet andrew :( he loves his brother so much
