#aftg adaptation

jumping in to the discussion of an aftg tv show adaptation, i think it could do really cool shit with like old interviews of kayleigh and tetsuji talking about creating exy and what it means to them. like old VHS recordings of interviews, the sounds of clicking play on the tape (the tape clicking play as the door to the court locks), voiceover of kayleigh while we see kevin on screen teaching neil drills…

It's probably never gonna happen, and perhaps thats for the best, but im curious what yall would want from an aftg tv series?

me personally it would have to be animated, preferably in 2D, and very colourful. Lots of movement. fairly close to the source material, only changing things when they wouldn't work in a visual format and need modifying. 2000s soundtrack obviously - nirvana and radiohead are MANDATORY

Okay as much as the idea of an on screen depiction of All For The Game would be… it wouldn’t be good or healthy to do that. Someone in the past month mentioned the idea that this would be similar to 13 reasons why, highly triggering with a lack of genuinely good representation and nuance unless it was rewritten to accommodate, and I agree.

In some ways what’s deeply triggering about the series is what makes the series, I have conflicted thoughts on it and do like the triggering content (but only personally), as a story device without nuance and accuracy it wouldn’t transfer well to on screen. It covers what is just trauma, not horror, on ‘screen’, and yes a lot of the series is to have you uncomfortable but hooked, but my stance is there’s almost no instances where graphic trauma scenes are needed in a story, there are other ways of depicting that.

I’m saying that, on screen exy, foxes, the insane world it’s set in? That would be cool

Self indulgent posting (yes i'm clearing out my drafs)

My take on a tfc teaser(and for that let's assume tfc is a season of a series)would be: it starts off quiet. A rumbling of an engine. A car. Then, in quick succession, the sounds of swerve, /cut/ a crash, /cut/ and then fire crackling. The crackling slowly becoming quieter and quieter, and footsteps getting louder, it's almost pitch black when the screen almost explodes with light, the small fire burning up through the windows of a car suddenly lit ablaze with a hiccup, before levelling out to only illuminating a figure smoking /the cigarette still almost intact, but a bit dusty and scorched from being touched with ash/, hovering farther away on unsteady feet. A deep, shaky inhale and the hum of the ocean in tune to the moon. The quiet is so loud. No music till this point.

—"Don't look back, don't slow down, don't trust anyone."–A gasp, a retch–"Be anyone but yourself, and never be anyone for too long"–choked breaths–"I'm sorry—"

A steady transition of the same hand holding the cigarette to another scene as now, the figure is smoking in the empty bleachers[at this point, the theme song is playing in the background, but perhaps a more raw /acapella?/ version, or a cover by one of the actors], but the cigarette lines up perfectly to where it was on the screen previously. /This time, the cigarette is just slightly more burnt, less of it left, but clean of any ash this time/ the scene cutts off with a scuffle of shoes from far away with the same kind of transition of the cigarette, to a parking lot.

A replay of "I don't need to be persuasive," a sharp inhale of the smoke "You'll just learn to do what I say.

Another scenery change with the cigarette transition, the cig is shorter now, Neil holds it awkwardly between his fingers at a gas station, watching the trucks come and go, everything is hazy, the sounds of traffic are relentless and overwhelming.

A mellow"How am I to trust mine around you?A liar. A runaway—"

/some of the ash falling from the cigarette and an obvious cut between the two spoken lines/

"—nothing. I'll always have and be nothing.

Aaand finally a transition to another parking lot, this time with the team bus somewhere in the distance, the sky white with a morning fog. The cigarette burning bright against it, even shorter this time.

"remember this feeling. this is the moment you stop being the rabbit."

The final scene is a smooth transition to a cigarette butt on the ground, being trampled by people stepping out of a car, a muffled but very intelligible conversation of:

the 'Seth died convo' without mention of it being seth, basically baiting that Neil died.

Question is, do you see the vision? Just let me cook I would do the aftg series so good just give me a massive budget. The visuals would be godlike.
