Marianne didn't like how things were moving so fast.
One moment, she was with her mother and brother, it seemed, and then the next they were gone-taken away by a cruel person that had broken into their home to steal their possessions, however few they were.
And now, barely even a week later, she was with this strange man she had never met, and he was supposed to be her father(though, it was plausible-they did have the same eyes, after all), and now she was here-left alone in a living room with this boy whilst the grown-ups talked in another room.
Shifting nervously from foot to foot, Marianne fiddled with the hem of her shirt as she stood awkwardly in the doorway. Was she just going to be a nuisance? She hoped not-she didn't want to make a bad impression, after all, but at the same time, she wanted to just hide behind her father and be as quiet as a mouse.

The teenager was always a quiet individual.
A hand reaches out, wrapping itself over the top of the monitor as she stood in her office, eyebrows furrowing as the gears turn in her head-- it was far too quiet tonight, it made her worry. Sneakers grind against the floor as she moved a little, head twisting to look between her door, her window and her vent; nothing to note-- she was concerned. Nova bit the inside of her cheek, eyes focusing on her desk.
She pushed herself away gently from the cameras, sneakers hitting the floor as she heads out of the office-- it was just before her shift, it wasn’t the end of the world if she left ( besides, what can the rotting tin can corpse do? Kill her right there and then? She thinks the fuck not ), right? Regardless, she was always curious about the layout of the workplace ( she can’t wrap her head around all the halls and doors-- what on earth was with this all? It was odd ), so looking around the place wasn’t too bad, right?
She steps around the halls, quiet as a mouse as she shifted around the place, her axe strapped to her waist as she made her rounds; something felt off, she wasn’t sure what. But she felt the need to find out-- one way or another, she was most likely going to. Fingers trace the wall idly as she made her way through the building, occasionally looking around.
Perhaps noise could do something? She paused, and murmured, voice quiet.
❝ Hellooooo..? ❞

Norah was always the curious type of child.
A hand brushes at the wall as she hops along, feet tapping along the floor as she makes her way around the building, ever intrigued, with an insatiable curiosity-- she was always that sort of person, regardless. She doesn’t stop in her endeavour, hopping along as she hummed a little tune. Grandfather’s Clock, a classic in her opinion. The girl twirls a little, a large smile on her face as she soon slowed to a stop.
❝ ...Maybe I can go win a buncha tickets from the games. ❞ She placed a hand to her face, eyes wide as she looked around, arcade room, arcade room... she moves once more, beginning to head to where she thought the room was, the tap-tap-tap of her mary janes hitting the floor quietly as she moved to the colourful room-- screens flashing and children’s laughter evident as she gave a smile, it was so bright..
Sunshine, laughter, colours of the rainbow-- happy things, happy thoughts, a reason to keep smiling ( regardless of the looming threat in town, regardless of all those children-- all her precious friends-- going missing, she had. To keep. Smiling ). She slows to a stop near a machine, and looked to the stool people used to sit on it-- hm, tall.. she shoved her hands into her pockets, and fished out a token, wondering if she should have a go at it-- then again, she was only five.. she wasn’t that good at games yet, at least, not the big kid ones..

Nate, even since Atlas had been born, had been interested in the boy. He was small, and he didn’t know a lot of small people. Though, since Nova probably wouldn’t mind if he spoke to her son, he decided to take a shot toward appearing in front of him. Maybe they could be friends! He would like that a lot, despite how nervous he obviously was.
Thankfully, he’d waited long enough for the kid to be able to talk, considering that babies weren’t too fun to speak with, since they didn’t respond well to anything. Talking to a toddler, or someone his age was much more interesting, albeit frightening, since he’d never been great around others.
But today was the day he did something. He would make the first move in the conversation, for once in his life. Hopefully not toward anything stupid or embarrassing, though that proved common through conversations.
The child took a deep, and unnecessary breath, before making himself seen. His usual form, but with the eyepatch on his left eye, so little Atlas wouldn’t have to see his leaking eye. It was disgusting, to say the least, so he didn’t show it off unless they were older, or seemed alright with it.
Anyway, he merely gave the boy a soft smile, trying to seem as unintimidating as possible. He wanted to be proven a friend, not enemy! So, he spoke softly as well, though that could also be attributed to his lack of talking points, or ideas. What was he even supposed to say.
“U-Um… Hi there, little guy?”
He tried
The little boy had always been painstakingly curious-- and somewhat aware, too. Of course his mother wouldn’t mind spirits speaking to him; his abilities had only really just begun to become better ( though, he was five; unable to tell the difference between good and bad spirits ), after all-- he could also use the company! He;s been sat at one of the pizzeria tables for about an hour now-- quietly playing with his plush. Blue eyes focus on the detail as he keeps to himself, dirty blonde hair falling over his vision as he brushed it back.
He’s always been somewhat aware of spirits, at least since he was around three; always pointing and loudly proclaiming they were there ( freaked out his poor godmother, he doesn’t regret it ) but he’s never seen them fully. That ability was being honed slowly but surely, besides.. Joshua was good practice, so was auntie Mari! So when Nate appears, he doesn’t bat an eye for a moment.
Keyword; for a moment. Atlas stared before his eyes widen ever-so-slightly and his mouth hangs open just a smidgen, he has a feeling of familiarity-- he knows him, he knows him! He swears he does! But where? ( The flashbacks? A red mask flashes in his vision, as does a pink room, ‘83, ‘83-- but why does ‘83 come to mind? )
He leans towards him, blue eyes wide with curiosity, his plush remains in his grip, and he gives it a little squeeze as he sits there. He pauses, gears whirring in his head as he tried to think about what to say ( he idly moves his fingers, a digit tugs against the green bracelet around his wrist ), ❝ Um... hello! ❞ He finally speaks, ❝ Who’re you? ❞ Name, name-- he needed a name. Just who was he?
And why was he so familiar?
