Would love to hear what you think of my mares confo. :) She’s a 3 year old icelandic/fjord cross.

I believe both Fjord’s and Icelandic’s will probably have slightly different conformation than “standard” horses, but I’ll do my best! Your mare is adorable, I just want to hug her. Her head is a little bit large compared to her body, but as she ages she may fill out more and it will balance out. Her neck is a good length and ties onto her chest smoothly. Her legs are short compared to her body, which seems to be fairly standard in Fjord’s, so I would assume it isn’t much of a problem. Her back is long leaving her hindquarters and shoulder smaller than usually desired. A long back makes for a smoother ride, but can also be weaker. Her hip and croup are both short and steep. Her shoulder is sloped well, and her legs have good bone for her size. In this photo she is slightly back at the knee in the front, but her hind’s would probably be correct. Her pasterns and feet are a good angle.

Let me know if you have any questions :) A few of the things I pointed out may improve with age as well, although I’m not sure when Fjord’s or Icelandic’s reach maturity.
