How would you interpret the myth of Agdistis from the perspective of your story? I find her story very interesting, so it’s just out of pure curiosity
Good question. I think I would need to do more research on Agdistis and on intersex people before I could answer that. If I've understood things correctly, Agdistis was sometimes seen as the same as the Phrygian Mother of Gods, Kybele. The Greeks sometimes identified Kybele with Rhea, and in my comics I have given my Rhea a few traits from Kybele, but I don't know if it would work to also make her the same as Agdistis (like, Rhea was born intersex but was castrated), or if it would be better to make Agdistis a separate deity.

full moon offerings to Agdistis today!
the daemon pulled some offering gunk out of a supplicant while embodied, which their human host then transferred into a chunk of river-tumbled brick to store it like a bad-vibes battery in order to avoid metabolizing it. so today I buried that brick in the Mother Tree, the Mouth of Agdistis, to let the daemon receive the offering and make sure none of it stays in their host.
while I was out back I was surprised to observe that the witch hazels are in flower!
I hadn't realized it was a fall bloomer. very very cool.
my mugwort torch was putting out a LOT of smoke as I walked back from the circle, which could be from favorable wind conditions or could indicate that Agdistis is pleased with the offerings today. perhaps both!
my most beauteous little guy from mythology. i love him badly

i haven’t heard the myth variation where dionysus is driven mad by agdistis and gets help from cybele, where did you read that one? i’ve always thought agdistis and cybele were almost the same or syncretic deities since the myths i’ve read about them were so similar.
whether Agdistis and Cybele are two separate entities or two names for the same entity varies from myth to myth and region to region - and in yet other versions, Agdistis's forced castration transforms them into Cybele - so your information is good, if perhaps incomplete
I think I first encountered that particular Dionysos story in Raven Kaldera's work - he took some liberties, but it originates in the writing of Arnobius. maybe @flamingkorybante can pull the excerpt for you, I'm having a challenge finding the document but it's in The Case Against the Pagans, book 5 iirc
Rocket and I have had it retold to us via divination and channelling as well but that is UPG and I would not expect others to take that as gospel, more as a point of interest
the article we wrote about these stories in 201...5? is best described as "unhinged" and "scholastically questionable" but it does go into these stories more, if you want that - it's uploaded now on Proton Drive
