Hey y'all! I wanted to introduce a project I'm working on: "Bound: A Zine Covering BDSM and Disability" and also call for submissions.
Our first issue will come out in April, and since April is considered World Autism Month and so many of us have that diagnosis, the first issue will be loosely themed around autism. But anyone with any kind of disability can submit, and if your piece doesn't make it into this issue, I will likely save it for a future one. At least initially, I'm planning on a 32 page zine, but I'm not setting upper limits on word counts or the number of images you can submit. Send me what you have, and I will work with you to get it published at full length, even if we have to edit or serialize it.
Here's what I need from you:
1. Your work, along with the title you'd prefer for the work(s)
2. The name you want to be credited under. Anonymous is ok, pseudonyms also ok
3. IF you want to direct people to your store, your work, your merch, give me a link where they can find you
4. IF you do want to be named, give me a short bio I can include at the end in the credits. One to two sentences, just describing who you are. Ex: Lesbian Loki is a 36-year-old Dom from Brooklyn. He enjoys reading, art, and taking care of his slave submissive
Since I'm wanting to publish in April, the deadline for the first issue will be March 5. But you can send in your pieces whenever if you're interested in being in a future issue. Send your submissions to [email protected], and I'll take a look and be back in touch in short order.
Other info y'all might want to know: I really admire communist writers like Leslie Feinberg, and ze never cared about getting paid. I'm planning to make the zine pay what you want so that people can download and distribute it for free. Any funds I do make will be used this way: I will use half toward distribution materials (printing, mostly, so I can get it in local bookstores) and half toward mutual aid efforts (I will be researching some mutual aid orgs so I can be more transparent about exactly where the funds are going).
Also, I will be asking the Lesbian Herstory Archive if they want a copy. They document and preserve queer zines made in New York. I will also be submitting it to Internet Archive and any other zine collective I can find
