re shard's handler
i dont actually know if there's a proper definition of handler, or where i even got the term from, but agent shard definitely had someone who managed his missions and was essentially "the voice" in his ear telling him what to do or what he should know during missions. in short, they were the bridge between the site itself and shard. we've only ever just called them handler . so heres info about them
agent athena beetle, she/they, probably a lesbian because she's married to one (a medic named eglantine)
formerly an mtf, then lost both her legs and an arm during a breach, and decided to not continue her job there, but was still offered the role of handler (yes, inspired by cynte from endoparasitic)
was actually a very talented mtf, one whose skill could challenge shard's, and one of the few who could impress even clef (though he'd never say it)
tends to move around by either a wheelchair (sometimes pushed by her wife/girlfriend, depending on the point in time), or on her front with a skateboard, or straight up just on the floor and dragging herself by with her one hand
they're still a Very capable agent, but obviously it's a lot harder to do much of anything from here. can and will shoot you if they have to (this includes a lever action shotgun and a revolver. ily endoparasitic)
still surprisingly fast on the ground, and can compete with a normal researcher running if they have to
as expected, a bit of a cynic, and a little bit bitter after everything's that happened, and is one of the few people who are Sick of shard. no amount of flirting from shard will change that.
often watches over shard via cctv in the area, or straight up from whatever cameras are on him, and if not that either, then just audio from comms
doesn't often like to appear in public, but tends to care little for people's opinions when they are. the goc has assumed they're retired and left them alone out of respect
very much in love with their girlfriend/wife/something, even if she's probably the foundation's most violent medic. lovingly calls her eggs or eggie anyway.
idk man ask questions i havent actually developed them much, it took us months to even get her a name and thats just because ooooo epic the musical and ooo did u know i have a classmate in zoology whose surname translates to beetle and i think thats cool ooooo
