I've decided that every time I actually finish a drama or movie that's been sitting in my Netflix or Viki watchlist for months, I'm going to come on here and talk about it.
Because if my ADHD lets me sit down and binge an entire series, that's basically a national holiday.
There are some shows that take me forever to finish, though.
For example, I've been watching Only Murders in the Building for what feels like an entire year.
Not because I don't like it.
I actually really enjoy it.
The episodes are just almost an hour long, I'm constantly trying to figure out who the murderer is before the characters do, and I usually don't have the energy to watch more than three or four episodes at a time.
Then there are shows that completely consume my soul.
The Untamed is one of those.
I've watched it multiple times now, and it has officially joined my yearly comfort-watch rotation alongside Harry Potter.
Every December, while everyone else is celebrating Christmas, I'm over here celebrating Harry Potter Season™.
I'm watching one movie every night, throwing on my Slytherin robes, making themed desserts and drinks, and pretending I attended Hogwarts in the late '90s.
(And before anyone asks... yes, I still enjoy Harry Potter. No, I don't support J.K. Rowling. Everything I own was gifted to me years ago, and these days I mostly survive off fanfiction anyway.)
Let's talk about the reason I made this post.
From this point forward, if I'm reviewing a show, I'm talking about EVERYTHING.
So if you haven't watched it yet and don't want spoilers...
I finally finished the Thai horror, mystery, thriller BL Goddess Bless You From Death.
It was SO much better than I expected.
The only reason I even clicked on it was because it was listed as a thriller.
I don't know why, but Western thrillers just don't do it for me most of the time.
They're usually more focused on jump scares.
Those have me gripping my blanket wondering what the actual hell is happening every five minutes.
Especially when they throw paranormal elements into the story.
Asian folklore is just so rich that horror and supernatural stories always feel more immersive to me.
The only Western horror movie that genuinely traumatized me was Jeepers Creepers...
But to be fair, I watched it when I was like eleven.
That creepy little song still activates my fight-or-flight response.
Meanwhile, Child's Play stopped being scary the second I realized Chucky is literally two feet tall.
I genuinely believe I could beat Chucky in a fight.
I am punting that little man.
The only way he'd win is if he somehow found a gun first.
Back to the drama before I get distracted again.
I have completely forgotten everyone's names, so we're using nicknames.
The pretty psychic guy with the glowing blue eye?
This show somehow packed an insane amount into only twelve episodes.
You've got serial killers.
People being haunted both literally and emotionally.
The reveal that one of the ghosts protecting Blue Eye was actually his mother?
Finding out who his father really was?
Then you've got Blessed carrying around all this guilt because of what happened with his former partner and that investigation that ended in tragedy.
Watching The Ex slowly realize he'd sacrificed pieces of himself climbing the ranks because of his father's influence was honestly one of my favorite character arcs.
Watching him get jealous of Blessed moving on with Blue Eye was incredibly satisfying.
I support respectful yearning.
What I loved most was that everyone actually grew.
The Ex finally stood up to his father.
Blessed stopped carrying the entire weight of the world by himself.
Blue Eye finally found people who genuinely loved him.
Even the side couple got their act together and admitted they were actually in love instead of pretending they were just casually hooking up.
The ending honestly felt really satisfying.
Especially when The Ex basically accepted that things were over between them but still left the door cracked open with the emotional equivalent of,
"If things don't work out... you know where to find me." 😭😂
Currently I'm about three episodes into Agent From Above, and I'm already annoyed that it's only eight episodes long.
Asian dramas really have this habit of giving me exactly enough episodes to become emotionally attached before rolling the credits.
Maybe that's why they stay so consistently good.
I'd rather have one incredible twelve-episode series than a show that drags itself through five mediocre seasons.
After this, I think I'm finally going to binge Pit Babe.
I've wanted to watch it forever.
I also have a weird soft spot for racing stories, and I blame my grandmother for that because she was absolutely obsessed with the Fast & Furious franchise.
My favorite has always been Tokyo Drift...
But 2 Fast 2 Furious deserves an honorable mention because somebody is going to have to convince me Brian and Roman weren't ex-boyfriends.
Also, I grew up knowing Tyrese as the smooth R&B singer my mom loved.
That man was absolutely on her "baby-making playlist."

I also don't actually watch as much BL as people probably assume I do.
I've watched a few GLs too, and one of my favorites involved time travel and a girl with supernatural powers.
I cannot remember the title for the life of me, which is driving me insane because it was SO GOOD.
The chemistry between the two leads was incredible.
Honestly, shows like these are why I don't buy into the whole "our attention spans are getting shorter" argument.
I don't think people have shorter attention spans.
I think people are just tired of mediocre stories.
If something is genuinely good, people will binge ten hours of it in a single weekend without blinking.
Studios also need to stop deciding whether something deserves another season after looking at the first week of streaming numbers.
Some stories need time to find their audience.
That's enough rambling for today.
