A DeanCas Big Bang 2015 fic Written by: silentwings4, Art by: stardustpaths
Summary: Dean Winchester is homeless, with too much pride to ask for help and no way to better his situation. Castiel Novak volunteers for his church and feels oddly drawn towards Dean. A strange friendship sparks between the two, Castiel seeming dead set on trying to understand Dean’s situation and helping him, to the reluctant acceptance of a man who doesn’t have much left to lose. This friendship progresses into something else and all the pieces slowly fall into place, but there’s more to work through than either anticipates.
News Alert!
Seamus and Dean more than likely went to the Quidditch World Cup together.
Dean had probably read about all of the most interesting Cups since he first learned of the Magic World’s favorite sport, but thought it impossible that he’d actually be able to see one.
Of course Seamus knew that Dean would love the Ireland vs. Bulgaria match, so he convinced his mother to get an extra ticket when she ordered them, and quickly sent an owl to the Thomas household about ‘having an extra ticket if Dean wanted it no big deal’.
Unfortunately, since the tickets were bought last minute, Mrs. Finnigan was unable to get a bigger tent, so they were stuck trying to sort the three people attending into two bedrooms.
Dean and Seamus would totally act like it was no problem if they had to share a bed, but both of them were slightly overjoyed that they’d be spending the last week or two of summer break in such close proximity, though neither would admit that to the other for years.
And when Ireland won the game, if they partied a little too hard and fell asleep, exhausted in each other’s arms, Mrs. Finnigan wouldn’t mention it but would definitely be shipping her son and his best friend on the down-low, because it was impossible to view the way they looked at one another and feel that it was 100% platonic.
1.2k words
Sam sat in the backseat of his father’s Impala the night after his seventh grade year had ended. His family had invited some friends to a cookout to celebrate the beginning of summer break. Of course, this meant that the Novak family was in attendance, and Dean and Castiel were at it again. Sam wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but there was something in that friendship that wasn’t entirely platonic.
Mary had, in her scramble to buy enough food to feed an army (meaning the Novak family’s several children in addition to others that were invited), completely forgotten to grab hot-dog buns. Dean, being the upstanding son that he was (yeah, right) had offered to drive his dad’s car—which he lusted after probably as much as Sam assumed he lusted after Castiel—to the nearest grocer to get some.
Sam was kind of bitter as they drove out of the cul-de-sac, since he had very loudly called shotgun the second he heard about the trip, and was currently sitting in the back seat. Castiel sat in the passenger seat, listening to some dumb joke and giving Dean a gummy smile when he delivered the punchline. It was disgusting to watch these two idiots play their perverted love game in the form of longing stares and unspoken tension.
