A follow-up on the “20 percent off /everything/" incident. Failing that, Carlos reacting to Night Vale-style Valentines Day.

Well listeners, we've finally got an update on the 20% off billboards, and before I begin I'd like to express my condolences to the families of anyone who lost a vital 20%, like internal organs or a head. Now! As I'm sure you're aware by now, it turned out that the signs were indeed meant to be taken literally. We are now living in 80% of a town, Night Va-. Large chunks of buildings have disappeared, nearly everyone is missing body parts, and it's looking suspiciously like 20% of the population is missing as well.

We're not sure, the people in charge of counting casualties are among the missing persons.

In related news, the scientists are saying that the missing 20% of our town is still somewhere, because matter cannot be created or destroyed, and that has to count for something.

Oh, and did you catch our little joke? Night Va- is 80% of Night Vale - or as close as one can get without pronouncing two tenths of the letter L!

Having everyone's birthday on Hallowe'en sounds like the kind of thing that would happen in Night Vale.

Cis privilege thing, yes. I can also see your point about the clothes- they make a statement and my own opinion that they’re tasteless has bugger all to do with that. But her voice? I was under the impression she sang via auto-tuning spoken words.

I like the sound of her voice a lot.

Not the greatest fan for her music, and I’m guilty of snobbery because of my deep (admittedly shameful) contempt of her fashion sense. Enlighten me, why is she appealing to you?

I like her voice a hell of a lot, and on at least one occasion she drew attention to her own cis privilege so that was very good. Also it's pretty cool that she goes in bizarre directions with makeup and stuff, I mean it's one thing for someone white to put on really weird makeup and provocative/revealing outfits, but another for a woman of colour because, from what I have seen, they are generally more likely to get shamed for making such a point of themselves.

She has done a few problematic things, but omgshepointedoutherowncisprivilegeohmygod and also hervoiceholyfuck.
