All's good my dude. And I'm glad to be here. The rvb fandom seems to be pretty cool so far! My favorite characters are probably Caboose and Wash. Although Lopez and Sarge are right up there as well.

My favorite part so far? Anything that delt with Andy the bomb and Lopez just being done with everyone. I get good laugh every time!

I decided to read it after all. :) I think on my first attempt I was just really impatient to get to things that I recognized from fandom osmosis, but now I’m really invested in the characters and in for the ride, so I’m feeling less so. If I read three acts in two days I don’t think I’m gonna have a problem getting through the intermission!

So I'm using your books as part of my master's thesis - I'm analyzing artificial intelligence in literature using both Lacan's mirror theory and Freud's theory of the uncanny - and my questions are 1) my presentation is to be taped, and would you be interested in seeing it at all? and 2) are there any other novels featuring AI characters that you would recommend? I’m assuming you’ve already read Iain Banks? How about Neuromancer? Which in its day did the “debut novel won all the prizes” thing and is very...of the eighties but also very good. 

I’m going to also say Hitchhiker’s guide, for Marvin and Eddie, the Ship Computer, and Deep Thought. They’re parodies, jokes, but jokes can be revealing of things and maybe these would be helpful?

Also, I can’t tell you how tickled I am when I hear someone is using my book for an essay or a thesis. It’s beyond awesome. I’ll cross my fingers for you, but I’m sure you won’t need it because you know what you’re doing (or you wouldn’t have gotten this far) and your presentation will go great.
