An Osmosian design for the ideas I was poking at. Would be the 'base form'. The claws are extendable and the scales on the upper surface of the body add another layer of defense. Tail helps with balance and additional fat storage.

i have been having lots of thoughts about osmosians especially on the 'biologicly, how the fuck does that work?' aspect and some thoughts leaning more on the Osmosians as aliens thing

and 'what if Osmosians just so happen to look humany cause they evolved to prey on things that looked like humans?' kinda thing

been having thoughts on the notion of Osmosians as energy vampire but as vampires/elves [not the skinny kind but the dangerous fairy kind] as have been significantly less miffed about them being so human looking. ver mych could have better desigs for very human looking fuckers tho

i still like beastly fuckers, but like thinking on the shapeshifter aspect for it

am thinking: 1. Base form that is kind of humany with the proportions of the ossy chimera forms to explain why the fuckers keep looking like that when they go 'full beast mode'

2. A 'default' for that they reflexively compress into that more closely resembles the rubber forehead human aliens they'd spend eons mimicking and eating. Just an instinct to be disguised not unlike how chameleons and stick insects keep fucking swaying when they move even if far from a tree and not feasibly blending in. Am thinking of said very human looking aliens [for any au where ossys arent Earth natives] being kinda elfy compared to human humans- pointy ears, fangs/claws, maybe colorful spots or stripes?

3. And a 'blending in' mode where fuckers actively shapeshift into a species after having absorbed dna from them if they aren't already hybridized with the 'not what we originally evolved to eat' species

am thinking of energy absorption being a basil trait for multicellular life on Osmos V. Some equivilent to a bacterium was good at powering itself from surrounding energy and/or yoinking the lifeforce out of other living things near by and some strains partnered up with the local eukaryote equivilent to provide/help aquire energy in exchange for cell maintaing building blocks/noncaloric neutrients and protection

and then some billion yrs later the ancestors of ossys being some ambush hunting predators that developed matter and dna absorption for camoflogue and reproduction. Their skin, especially on their hands/feet, secreting chemicals that partly break down what they're touching and soak up the liquefied matter to produce an armor coating of the same substance to cover their bodies and blend in better. And using a similar process to take in dna from other lifeforms to mix into their own genetics to avoid losing genetic diversity from parthenogenisis if mates are difficult to find.

And then both leading to the development of shapeshifting proper.

And then millions of years later due to climate changes are forced to become more social and intelligent as they start specializing in hunting the rapidly becoming dominant megafauna lifeform on the planet, the Osmos V equivalent of humans, till ossys very closely resembled them in their default forms and grew to match them in intelligence

and then eventually, assisted with unfortunate natural disaster that severaly impacts the population numbers of Osmos humans, ossys eventually hunt them to extinction and become the new dominant sapient on Osmos V

and then ossys developed civilizations while figuring out new shit to eat after having specialized for so long

and then encountering aliens who looked at their abilities and went 'oh you could be very useful' and many many things happened and eventually Osmosians formed an empire specifically for keeping fuckers who want to enslave them out of their solar system and hence why its rare to see them far from home

modern ossys could very much go back to their mimicking predator roots and nom other sapients, and did at times to escape from slavery, but largely understand that that's… not desirable for ya know doing trade and having allies and such

very human-like aliens still ring the 'that looks a whole lot like dinner' bells to their instincts and folks that work or live among aliens train themselves and their children to 'try not to eat the neighbors, no one needs that kind of trouble if fuckers arent starting shit with us'

Osmosians also likely have some amount of reputation in the wider galaxy as natural people eaters, which can work in favor of some kinds of employment like mercenaries but can also work against them in creating negative stereotypes that get them scrutinized more

So... I feel like talking about fun ideas I've been having for potential Death Battle matchups once again. I like DB and it's fun to think of matchups new and old. It can even be fun hearing other people's ideas for these types of matchups.

Most of these are going to be based on how interesting of a matchup I think it could be, though there will be some built on some pretty good comparisons and contrasts. I say comparisons and contrasts because just having essentially mirror matches can be a bit... not boring but almost feel uninspired in some ways. For example, I really like "Ghost Rider Vs Spawn" but I will admit I think "Ghost Rider Vs Lobo" was the more interesting of the two battles to feature the Spirit of Vengeance. Anyways, let us begin!

VILGAX Vs. X-O MANOWAR: One I came up with myself, and one that's more built on contrast than comparison. Vilgax is a long-lived, domineering warlord who is often on a quest for power, while Aric is a man out of time, who is looking for some semblance of normality while balancing it with adventure. I can even see the inciting incident of the conflict being Vilgax wanting Aric's armor but the man being unwilling to give it up.

ETERNAL WARRIOR Vs. KLIFF UNDERSN: Another I came up with myself. Gilad Anni-Padda, the Eternal Warrior has lived since I think ancient Mesopotamia, having fought to protect the Earth from many threats through his long life. Kliff Undersn is the once leader of the Sacred Order, and once rival to the Queen of the Gears, Justice, having led many knights to protect humanity from any Gear threat. Both of them have been on Earth for a long time, fought threats beyond the power of a normal human, with enemies that are about as long-lived at they are. The two are skilled in many ways of battle, as well as talented tacticians, so this battle could be a fun battle to showcase the old warriors.

SIN KISKE Vs. ZIDANE TRIBAL: I saw this one randomly tossed around once and thought it was interesting. Both have origins with an artificial race of being and are generally a happy go-lucky person who may have done or learned something that gave them a bit of a depressive attitude for a bit of time. The two haven't had normal a normal childhood due to circumstances outside their controls. Sin grew up quickly in a crazy world without much input from his parents and where Gears were feared for their destructive potential, while Zidane grew up in a pretty stable world and raised in as part of group of performers & thieves and where Genomes are unknown to the general populace.

CLOUD STRIFE Vs. YUSEI FUDO: One I saw tossed around online, and one that I think could be cool. Imagine the two dueling on motorcycles, Cloud with his buster sword striking against Yusei's summoned monsters, the two slinging spells and traps as they battle.

JADEN YUKI Vs. DAN KUSO: What I think could be a follow-up to Ash Vs Yugi some point in time down the line. I'd honestly take this a bit more over Dan Vs Gingka from Beyblade, as how is a spinning top, granted a magic spinning top, going go do much against a massive dragon from another planet? This could be another interesting follow-up to Ash Vs Yugi as well, with the battle between Jaden and Dan going down a bit crazier due to maybe having generally more odd feats compared to Ash and Yugi? Admittedly, it has been a long while since I watched YGO GX and Bakugan, so many of my memories of things are quite foggy.

ALICE GEHABICH Vs. TRENT MERCER: A battle between two allies to the main heroes of their respective series who started with as an enemy due to an evil split personality that formed to due exposure to odd sources, the Silent Core for Alice and the White Dino Gem for Trent. I guess it's not too different from the Predazord Vs Hydranoid idea from a previous post, but I'm a bit more attached to Trent and his Zords than I am the Predazord and Merrick. They even have a good contrast of colors, black versus white as a primary color with contrasting secondary colors of purple & blue versus yellow & red.

LORD DRAKKON Vs. DARK DANNY: I'm almost surprised I haven't seen this one before. The Ultimate Enemies of the big hero of their respective series, the evil alternate self. Lord Drakkon and Dark Danny are so powerful in part due to taking on power they should not have. For Lord Drakkon, combining the Green Ranger and White Ranger powers. For Dark Danny, the ghost halves of Danny Fenton and Vlad Masters fusing. Some may wonder if Lord Drakkon can even harm Dark Danny due to Dan being a ghost, but we've seen him physically lift tanks, so ghosts must have some way to at least be semi-corporeal for a time. Things could be interesting to see who would outlast the other, and who has the better powers and/or arsenal to deal with the other.

PARIAH DARK Vs. AGGREGOR: This one might be a bit of a stretch, but I still think it could be interesting. The once almighty king of the Ghost Zone who had to be sealed away versus the man that wanted to attain godhood and had his power stolen when stopped from achieving that goal. With ultimate power in sight, who could come out on top. I could even see it happening due to say instead of going to the Forge of Creation and looking to steal the power of a Celestialsapien, Aggregor is going to the Ghost Zone and looking to steal the power of the Ghost King.

Sorry if not all of these have super in-depth explanations. I just think some are cool and interesting, and even that what contrasts them against each other can make for a good dynamic in the battle over what they have in common. Admittedly, some may be a bit of a stretch or more one-sided than I think, but I'm not some big compendium of knowledge and I sometimes prefer coming up with something a bit more original than repeating ideas that everybody is already suggesting.

A couple of alternate ideas that I was not as sold on but had thought of adding to this list are "Vlad Plasmius Vs. Zs'kayr", "Ben 10 Vs. Radiant Black", and "Bloodshot Vs. Nagoriyuki". I dropped the third one because while original, I couldn't think of any commonalities, while for the first I thought it wouldn't be all that interesting and for the second I felt I needed to go through Radiant Black. I had also tried coming up with a match-up for Rogue Sun, but felt I also needed to go through that comic and find a good opponent.
