It's 1895 in the heart of Swedish folk music and dance. During certain weekends, boys are allowed to visit girls at night, wooing them with fantastical poems. If a girl lets a boy into her room they can share a bed all night, fully clothed, to talk and eat caramels together.

John is seventeen and looking for a girl to marry like everyone else. He's very surprised when another boy suddenly stands outside his door, wanting to share his bed…

Rec: This fic melted me. Melted. I was reduced to a puddle of goo on the chair. The UST is off the chain and the emotions are hot and fierce as Sherlock and John seclude themselves for some one-on-one time that somehow ends up with them spending most of it in bed together... with a strict hands-off policy! The situation slowly grows more and more untenable until something’s got to give, whether they want it to or not.

I especially liked the frank, down-to-earth tone of their dicsussions, the attempt to be level-headed and practical about everything as if solving a case, and the fact that their hearts and bodies ignored all of that and went ahead with their own agenda. I’m still walking on air the day after reading this, it’s that much of a pick-me-up!
