I know he will be true to me Who am dead, And double-lock his iron gates Upon the paths of our high hills. Overhead He'll search for me in thought, I know, Through all space… And find me in another face.

☀️ 49 Days by Agnes Lee
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
In Buddhist tradition, a person’s soul is in a transitional state between life and rebirth for forty-nine days. Here in this book, readers travel with one Korean American girl, Kit, on her journey, while also spending time with her family and friends left behind.
A friend recommended this book to me as a deal with my own grief, and I was taken over by emotion. The simplistic style of the story says so much with so few words. The scenes are at once heartbreaking and mending. To read this in a moment of loss makes me feel more connected to the world around me and helps me stay grounded.
Agnes Lee does a fantastic job of creating a quiet yet triumphant story about love, loss, and our connections with one another.
