I'm always surprised that I'm actually not a terrible writer when it comes down to it. My profs, usually the only people who ever see my (good) writing, all consistently tell me I'm good at it and I believe them for about five whole minutes every time rip

And then later I beg my friends to look over something and they all give mediocre suggestions, which I appreciate all the same, but like. OH. oh. I see. We are on completely different levels here

If you're ever afraid your writing is garbage (especially in a college setting), I guarantee you there are people writing way worse than you with way more confidence. Just do it, it's fine. I once had someone insist they were a "good writer" and I believed them, and then they turned in what looked like 15 year old me's writing (to my horror). It's literally fine.

This isn't to say other people are "dumber" or whatever, but rather, if you're like me, your standards are too high and they might be hurting you.
