The folks of Winston-Salem showed the crew some of the kindest hospitality this side of the Mississippi when they hooked us up with VIP passes to Twin City RibFest!
You may want to grab a napkin before watching this video because if you are a meat lover, you will need it to catch your drool as you witness this epic festival of North Carolinian barbecued goodness.
I've been a swing connoisseur for around 25 years now, and may I just say... these swings we encountered at the Myrtle Beach Carnival might be right up there among my all-time favorites.
Note: Please excuse the excessive screaming. We just really loved the swings.
Who knew Georgia Peach Paradise happened to be in Macon... Nope, did not see that one coming.
While en route to Mobile from Lafayette, we graced New Orleans with our 34 ft. Airstream presence. This is just a quick iPhone video of the crew as we soaked up the cultural flavor of Cafe du Monde's beignets and Bourbon Street's jazz bands.
Ever heard of Calvert, Texas?
Me neither. I’m not too sure if many Texans have even heard of this 1,400 person town. However, if you find yourself en route to Houston from Waco, the refreshing little gem of a neighborhood is definitely worth a visit!
Nestled in the heart of Calvert lies one of the town’s most precious treasures, the Pin Oak Bed and Breakfast. This 112 year old home boasts a landscape laced with dozens of majestic oak trees and exudes a Gone-with-the-Wind flair that Margaret Mitchell herself would write home about. A charming wrap-around porch beckons its guests to the stained-glass front door entry, which leads to a breathtaking foyer. With a quick glimpse to the right, the crew stops dead in our tracks as we behold the beauty inside the parlor.
Check out this quick snapshot I caught of Dave’s reaction to the gramophone we discovered. I dare say it wins the “Coolest Antique We’ve Ever Seen” award for this Mutual of Omaha crew.
How the West was Wild...
I stumbled upon a Texan 2 step club.
Learned a Texan 1/2 step dance.
Had a whole Texan step on my toes 4 times.
Slice of Americana: Blue Willow Inn
On our way to Waco, we whipped out the iPhone to capture some raw footage of Miss Lisa serving the crew at Social Circle's finest Southern eatery, The Blue Willow Inn. We stuffed ourselves so full of soul food that every one of us rolled back out to the air stream with a noticeably stronger twang in our speech.
(The heart of this year's tour is real people, real stories and real footage... In essence, they want us to film with our iPhones and produce/edit instantaneous content via mobile devices, just like real people would do. So thanks for bearing with the shaky camera! You guys are great.)
