Genre: supernatural, paranormal, romance, young adult I don't even know where to begin. This book was a revel. Although it took a bit to fully immerse myself into the book, the plot, the twists, everything was amazing, well-developed, and well-explored. As Twilight was the first and only vampire-related novel/series I ever read, it was difficult not to draw comparisons between the two, and there were. With the addition of werewolves toward the book's end, one can only imagine the breadth of what is to be expected in The Damned. Throughout the entire book, I was trying to determine who was going to betray whom, whom the killer was, and the range of Celine's audacity and daring, and I was not disappointed. Celine's character was extremely likable and independent, contrasting the expectations of the times. Themes of Shakespeare, the greater good, and sacrifice were prevalent and very well-incorporated into the book, unpredictable yet predictable in more ways than one. The only con I had was with the French dialogue. It was a little difficult to follow at times, as not all had a translation in the sentence following. I had to do some guesswork, but it was not terrible due to parallels in French's and English's Latin origins.
