“I’d say I’m surprised, but I’m really not.” Of course Sharky had gotten hurt taking on a few outposts with the deputy. That was almost run of the mill - Holden expected it, with as reckless as those two tended to be side by side.

He was just glad the damage was minimal. There had been a time or two where Rook brought Sharky back barely conscious - but after a (very stern) talking to, he’d learned never to let that happen again.

“You have a burn on your lip, right here -” he said, pointing to the corner of his own lips where he could see a tiny scorch mark on Sharky’s. “Get over here so I can kiss it better, you absolute disaster.”  Said with nothing but love, of course.

The problem is when the character is supposed to just look like he's about to tell the other character something really exciting and yay plot point But it just looks like he's batting his eyelashes and grinning stupidly at his crush
