Okay, peeps. Here's a little special post about improvement. Or just drawing in general, I don't know. It's really simple, it's gonna start and end with the same sentence:
Don't give up.
I drew both of these characters, respectively Ahngel (halloweenholidaydoor) and Ma'lakel (anartisticreality) around october/november 2013. I'm a very harsh person when it comes to my own art. I'm asking a lot of myself and thus am rarely happy with what I'm drawing / painting. And that's why I tried to repaint both of these characters.
Drawing every day, you won't always notice that you're improving. With each doodle, each finished piece of work, each experimentation. You won't improve right away, or constantly. Sometimes, you'll feel like you'll have reached a new step, sometimes you'll feel like you're not going anywhere. Pretty much every artist feels this way. And that's why you should keep your oldies... go look at them from time to time and laugh about how your own old-self sucked ;)
Keep drawing
Keep practicing
Don't give up
So... yeah. Look, halloweenholidaydoor I did a thing. I looked through my drawings from last year and ended up curious to see how a little repaint would go
Well shiet, improvement! It's kinda hard to believe, in less than a year. I mean I knew I've learned things during this part few months, but still seems like I wasn't able to realize it. Feels kinda weird, a good weird though!
Never stop practicing ;)
"... from his mothers chest. With his sharp beak, he stole what was meant for his father. Greedy, but not without love to his family, he turned to his bat brother. He knew his brothers body was frail, so he offered him the spill on the brown soil under them. The one that would grant him a long life no matter how weak he could become. What was rest in their mothers muscles and skin was given to the other two. The wolf desired more strength than what he was born with and such he ate greedily. The rat was not left much to as he was not favored by any of his brothers. But he was cunning. When the others fed, he stole the deerskin that his mother had dropped in the thorn bushes and disappeared... Once the wolf went to flaunt his superior strength and the bat resigned to enjoy the night in peace, the raven grasped Lilliths heart in his talons before consuming it whole. Picking it until nothing remained... And from his own wrists, his mother was reborn in crimson snakes and light, renamed as Blood of Power."
- Short cutout from the Lillithian myth of creation. Entirely made up by me and integrated in the roleplaying world I share with AnartisticReality :)
Derp. Sketch of young Ahngel before bed.
