Nassau AHRC Program Hopes to Expand with County Contract
New York-based law firm Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates, P.C., supports several charities doing work in the Long Island community. One of the organizations Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates supports is the Nassau County AHRC Foundation, Inc. Nassau AHRC helps more than 2,200 people who have developmental disabilities. It does so in part by training them for work and employing them through initiatives like its eWorks program, which recycles electronic waste for businesses in the Tri-State Area. Recently, Nassau County itself signed on to use eWorks’ recycling services. This contract with the county has the potential to significantly grow the program. To date, eWorks has already received over 10,000 pounds of electronic waste, and it expects to recycle approximately 100,000 pounds of waste for the county over a yearlong period. Expansion of the program will help provide steady paychecks for the adults with disabilities employed by eWorks, many of whom would face difficulty finding a job elsewhere.
