OST Control - Sankarin Tango (English Subs) - Music Video
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
What is this? Why is it like this?
He listens.
Carefully, slowly, he turns in the middle of the circle, inclining his head.
And then he hears it.
There are voices. Beyond Hiss. Beyond Polaris. He can hear them, whispering away. Unfamiliar signals. Brainwaves and soundwaves he’s never claimed or owned. Soft and distant. Like when they drove under thick canopied pines in dad’s old truck and the radio would fizzle in and out. Dad’s truck was so rickety. The seats smelled like oiled leather. The stick shift was so loud. The vents never worked.
The sounds are getting closer. Or... he’s able to distinguish them more clearly.
The insatiable childhood curiosity of what if has never left him, despite it all. It drives him forward a step. And then another, and another. He follows the taped lines on the floor, edging closer.
And then the cacophony starts.
“What a mess: Take a break”
I wish there was more little stuff like this in video games: A mission with the sole objective of “sit down after a hard day of work and take a break”. It made me and my work feel so appreciated! =D And it’s funny and heartwarming too
(For more context - during the game, towards the end, when you as Ahti’s “janitor assistant” finish all the side-jobs he gives you and go back to his office, this mission pops up, letting Jesse take a break plus nap. Afterwards you get a whole new outfit, too! I find this hilariously good tbh.)

“No, none of you know why I have asked you here,” Ahti greets them, answering the question they all already have in mind. “But now it is time for you each to leave.” He looks at them expectantly. The gaggle of people in coveralls all stare back, still bunched together. The music is barely audible over the churning of a vent fan in the walls. Finally, one janitor, an elderly woman, breaks the silence.
“We just got here,” she says curiously, weathered eyes narrowing as she squints at Ahti across the room.
“Ah, but not going back to work. Go home,” he answers, the last two words a strong period at the end of his sentence. As if that settles the whole matter, he goes back to busying himself with the cart next to him. “A vacation! For all of you. The whole staff. Best grab your things and get a-moving.”
Ahti sends the Bureau's janitorial staff home.
