"31st October. Monday. The whole day until 5 1/2 we were hunting in Ai-Todor. Papa killed a fox. Before breakfast there were 4 paddocks, and after 2. Sat down with NP in the room and it was good together. Good weather. Had dinner with Mama, Papa and Co[unt] Nirod, who was then shown our rooms. "

"31st October. Monday. At 9 1/4 went with Olga and Tatiana to Ai-Todor. There was a hunt following the example of the previous raids. The day was quiet and warm. The breakfast was plentiful and in the open air. Killed a fox. The hunt ended at 4 o'clock. Returned home at 4 3/4. Read after tea. Had dinner [with] Nirod, who had finished his watch. In the evening read aloud to Alix."
