Her voice is her only outlet, along with her ballet (outside of Alien Stage) — when she sings, she’s not just performing, she’s surviving.
Does shows outside of Alien Stage, where she does ballets — usually tragic ones (ie. Swan Lake, Manon, Gisele, etc.)

Personality:
* Superficially graceful, aloof, and “ethereal.” The type of woman others find entrancing. A distant beauty.
* Deeply bitter, emotionally cold, and resentful. She sees Aia as the reason her life fell apart.
* Obsessed with appearances. She dresses perfectly and speaks with practiced delicacy.
* She withholds affection as punishment, using praise as manipulation.
* Genuinely believes she should have been something greater — blames Aia for her perceived mediocrity.
Background:
* Born into moderate wealth, trained in classical arts, including piano and etiquette.
* Married Aia’s father young — a man she saw as her “ticket” into elite society.
* After he ||took his own life (due to her emotional abuse and alienation)||, she snapped and emotionally abandoned Aia.
* When the aliens had her taken in as a “pet family,” she was expecting luxury. Got submission instead.

Name: Vasim Mae

* Treats Aia and her mother as living ornaments— possessions, not people.
* Describes his abuse as “love” or “favoritism,” warping the meaning of kindness and intimacy to Aia.
* Frequently refers to Aia with endearments to strip her of individuality. (Eg: “little lamb”, “angel”, weird ones..)
* Isn’t around Aia and Maristella much, usually taking care of “business”
Background:
* Comes from a lineage of alien aristocrats known for collecting humans as status symbols.
* Sees his human “pets” as lesser but entertaining — like art pieces that cry sometimes.
* Has a fixation on control. When Aia resists or breaks down, he becomes more possessive.
* Has ties to the entertainment structure of Alien Stage — helped brand Aia with the “Mae” surname.

* His shimmery claw residue is both aesthetic and mildly drugged — leaving a scent and sting on the skin. Used more so on his own human pets.

(Callen = “rock” or “slender” — a fragile strength.)
Status: Deceased (suicide)

Profession: Once a composer, later a silent background figure in the alien system
Appearance: Dark curls like Aia, perpetually tired eyes, often wore gloves to hide his chewed fingernails due to Maristella’s critiques
Personality:
* Warm in a timid way. A “yes-man” who flinched around conflict.
* Rarely defended himself against Maristella’s attacks—but he noticed things.
* When Aia was little, he used to hum her lullabies while Maristella would be drunk and lying on the couch, Vasim gone doing his business
* Taught her how to stitch her first embroidery thread. Whispered “you’re not like her” when Maristella wasn’t looking.
* Loved music. Couldn’t stand performing. A coward in public—but gentler in private.
His Relationship With Aia:
* He was quietly kind. Not brave. Not enough. But in those moments behind closed doors? He tried.
* The first person to call her “Aia.”
Maristella had wanted to name her Seraphina.
But he said the name sounded “too heavy” for her.
“She’ll be.. kinder.”
* She remembers climbing into his lap while he played piano. Remember the way his fingers trembled, even then.
* He flinched whenever Maristella raised her voice. But never stopped her. He only apologized after.
“I’m sorry she’s like that. I wish I could change it.”
* He couldn’t protect Aia.
But he never blamed her. Not once.
The Decline:
* Over time, Maristella’s beauty withered in his eyes. Not because she aged — but because the cold in her voice grew unbearable.
* He watched Maristella flirt with power. Watched her hand Aia over like a prop.
* He tried to stop it. Quietly. Weakly. Ineffectively. But Vasim didn’t even bother to punish him.
“Men like you are born to watch, not act,” Vasim once told him.
“You’ll die soft.”
* He died shortly after. His body was found in one of the practice rooms—the one where Aia used to sing lullabies with him.
* Aia wasn’t told the truth until years later.
* Has a lot of guilt over him.
