You is kind. You is smart. You is important.
"Ho voglia di gridare così forte che la piccolina riesca a sentirmi che sporco non è un colore, che le malattie non sono la parte nera della città. Voglio che non venga il giorno - e viene sempre nella vita di un bianco - in cui comincerà a pensare che quelli di colore non sono bravi come i bianchi." 💛 #thehelp #kathrynstockett #black #america #love #amazing #minny #skeeter #aibeleen #booklover #reading

The help
I work at a daycare during the school year and I have worked with all the classrooms (6 months-5 years old). In the 2-3 year old room there is one little girl in particular who has become quite attached to me and since I'm not in her room regularly, I stop by at least once or twice everyday to check in on her. I just started saying to her one day that I loved her. I say that to all the kids because I don't know how often some hear that from somebody and I truly do care for all of them. I also tell this little girl one of my all time favorite quotes "You is kind. You is smart. You is important." It has come to the point to where now we will say it together before I leave her classroom every time I stop by. To some this may seem small and not that big of a deal but to me I know that I have made some sort of impact on this little girls days at school. I'm going to school to be a teacher so this is huge for me. In doing all of this I can tell the days that I don't stop by as often or at my normal times, her days are off whereas when I do stop by at my normal times her days are so much better and her teachers have said that her behavior has definitely improved since I started coming to visit. All in all I always leave work with a huge smile on my face because this little girl has left her mark in my life without even realizing it.
