His forehead was warm. That was a bad sign. Anything he was feeling, anything weighing him down... was likely weighing Ryoka down, too. He hadn’t met her before this prior, not really, but he was aware of her. She was so... small and cute. She possessed what seemed to be a gentle smile. If he talked to her, he was sure she’d reassure him: ‘it’s not your fault’. ‘You couldn’t have known’.
He looked down at his leg and sighed. It was getting better but it wasn’t fully healed yet. It stopped bleeding but... that didn’t mean it was magically better. The area still hurt. Shizumaru himself seemed to be rather good at dealing with pain, powering through it... but he couldn’t ask the same of Ryoka. The fact he knew full well she wouldn’t blame him hurt the most. What could he do to make it up to her? To make it up to someone who wouldn’t even tell him how foolish he’d been to suggest himself? He should’ve known it was some trap. And now... now...
Shizumaru closed his eyes. What he was doing was wrong. He knew that. His knuckles tightened as he fought to restrain himself from his ID. Shizumaru wanted to protect everyone. That hadn’t changed. It hadn’t changed, but... right now it was his fault Ryoka was in pain. He was doing something horrible - to wish, inflict pain on another. That’s why... it was okay. He would do it. And if Ryoka blamed him... if Lotus blamed him. That was fine. He would shoulder that burden properly. Being a ‘good person’ meant... no, he wasn’t being a good person. It was pure self-satisfcation. He needed to be useful to Ryoka, at any cost. It wasn’t the right thing to do but he could find some nobility in his actions. And as long as he was at peace with them... hopefully it wouldn’t haunt him. He flicks through the colours and finds Orange before clicking it. The confirmation message sticks in his head.
Are you sure you want to do this? Yes or no.
... No, of course he didn’t want to.
But Lotus was on her own, wasn’t she? That alone was suspicious and... if she was on her own, maybe it would hurt less. These were justifications, of course, but he needed to at least justify it a little. Hurting Tatsuya after their talk seemed hypocritical... and that was certainly the person he liked the least. Stil, he couldn’t say he hated or disliked anyone here. Sure, there were disagreements but... it’s not like you could just say these people were ‘evil’, right? Trying to act like someone was seemed... sickening to him. It would certainly make things easier for him, but, he just couldn’t. Even Ji-hyun, who’d taken a life... she was no villain. Just a poor girl put into a bad situation.
Yeah. It was a bad situation. That’s why he had to do this. Nobody was perfect. He confirms his decision and hits yes. It probably wouldn’t take effect instantly... but hopefully in a few minutes it could give Ryoka some relief.
Speaking of Ryoka, she’d just popped out of her therapy room, it seemed. Shizumaru had been sitting outside of it, his wooden sword by his side as he sat there, loyal as a dog, determined to guard her any way he could. He pockets his ID inconspicuously and then glances up at her from his position.
“Is something troubling you, Umehara-san? If you need absolutely anything, let me know. You shouldn’t be walking about so much. Please. Rest, if you can.”
