THINKING OUT LOUD ; jazmine x aiden
the ballroom was a mess of faces, both familiar and not, all veiled underneath fancy masks. it was pretty easy to tell the sinners apart from the saints... at least, what they wanted to be viewed as. she knew better than to think that everybody had chosen a costume that matched their identity. maybe that was the point, that the ball was a place for saints to be sinners the visa versa. the brunette's own costume had been an obvious choice from the start. white dress with gold accents. she hadn't even considered the alternative. not until she got to the masquerade, that is. there, she found herself wanting to be someone else, even if just for a night. could she have pulled off a little black dress or fiery red lipstick? surely somebody would have called her bluff. she was a little too saint to be anything but.
like many other angels on the floor, jazmine found it easy to get lost in the crowd, searching face after face for any sign of familiarity. she didn't know what she was looking for. a distinct pair of eyes or a friendly smile. perhaps a laugh she could recognize, or simply a voice. nope, nothing. finally, she spotted somebody familiar. "nate!" she exclaimed, grabbing the arm of the man she knew at least a little, thanks to her friendship with lexi. the beaming smile fading from her lips as soon as it appeared. "not nate," she corrected herself quickly as she realized her mistake. she shook her head slightly, her lips forming a tight line. oops.
