Aidyn rolled her eyes and resisted the urge to hit the slightly older boy upside the head. “Oh shut up.” She sighed, carding her fingers through his hair again. “You want a haircut or not?”
He tipped his head back, looking up at her from his seat. He didn't mind the petting, though they'd hardly more than brushed elbows before. "Don't cut it too short, or I'll look like I'm twelve," he said with an impish smirk, flashing his teeth on one side. "Just a trim, pretty please."

brush.
He let his head fall forward as her fingers ran through his hair in a lazy rhythm. It was soothing, if rather unexpected. After a long silence, he spoke up, breaking the peaceful moment. “So are you going to cut my hair, or just molest it?”
"Psssst Lia."
"Pssssst Aidyn... Why are we whispering?"
She made a face. "But it's your name."
"And you're my daughter. It's not, um..."
"Respectful."
"Yeah, it's not respectful to call me by my real name."
"Tony!"
"Don't call me that."
