What I carried with me on my way back home
My name is Vinícius Mendonça, and this is how I lived my experience in Peru.
I decided a place, to travel to, like a surprise, and it really did, because the city of Lima was really open and welcoming. I learned a lot when I coexisted with the Peruvians, such as: respect more to our Latin American neighbors as a town with history and to give value to my own culture. I realized during my experience the importance of listening to what people have to say during a dialogue – respect is a big deal about it, too.
I carried with me on my way back to my country - especially - the optimism of the people in their daily lives and being more empathetic with others. I met a lot of the preserved native culture, I was honored to have that opportunity because I didn’t have the access to a human’s patrimony such as that.
I also met a lot of nice people willing to talk about the history of their own town. I can just thank so much to the Local committee of AIESEC in Universidad Católica del Perú, because it gave me all the necessary infrastructure to dive myself into a real change, and, of course, the great friendship that it created for us!
