I had a sudden urge to draw @theblueskyphoenix's character, Obaasan. Thank you for indulging me Aileen xD I haven't drawn an anthro since I was like 11, so I hope I got her right.

Good Hands by aileenrose
Word Count: 13,238
Summary: Cas is the owner of a failing—and falling apart—B&B.
Dean might be able to help with that. Dean’s good with his hands.
Comments: 9/10. So sweet and fluffy, not an ounce of angst. Dean finds a run down bed and breakfast when he’s lost on the highway, and he offers to repair it for a couple of days. That couple of days turns into weeks and then months and then forever. I love how the author showed Dean’s to do list throughout the fic, it’s really cute and so sweet, especially the last one. It’s incredibly cute and fluffy.

Summary: Cas is the owner of a failing—and falling apart—B&B. Dean might be able to help with that. Dean’s good with his hands.
The most noticeable thing about this story is probably the complete and total lack of angst. Everything is soft and sweet and easy, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day, a hug from an old friend, and a lazy summer afternoon all rolled into one little piece of fic perfection. Castiel’s B&B is so eloquently described, it almost serves as a character in the story, the perfect backdrop for the slow development of the relationship between he and Dean. As they work together to repair the house, they end up building their own romance.
In some ways, it reads like a classic “trapped in a cabin together” type of story: a relatively short period of time during which the characters get to know each other by spending nearly all that time together. But the difference here is that Dean could leave at any time, and chooses not to. He chooses to stay with Cas, and who could blame him? It’s a story about taking chances, tempting fate in smalls ways, and trusting your own instincts when something just feels right. Sometimes, we all need that reassurance.
The Return Policy by aileenrose
Summary: "Most of his visitors are academics. They come from universities all over the nation, sometimes beyond. Others write books. The man in the Reading Room today is neither. He’s a tall, irritated man with a federal badge."
The federal agent's partner is usually the one who does the research. And even though Cas doesn't think this man is a real federal agent, he's happy to help where he can.
Comments: 10/10. It's so cute and I love the ending. It's kind of a case fic, but not really. It's told from the point of view of Cas, who is a librarian at the Library of Congress, Dean goes there for research once, and keeps coming back. No angst.
A Blessing, A Curse by aileenrose
The Witcher, Geralt/Jaskier, 12k, complete, curses, pining
"For a while, Jaskier doesn’t know he’s cursed. It feels like free will, going back down that mountain, just as dangerous down as the way up, and alone this time, too. The descent is fast, maybe even reckless, but Jaskier’s feeling numb and out-of-sorts anyways, Geralt’s words simmering in his mind, and at the time it doesn’t feel like he’s being pulled on by anything but his own desire to get away."
Based off a post that Geralt's words on the mountain are granted by the djinn.
The Airmail Experience by aileenrose
Summary: "Dean leans against the jamb of the door and watches, bemused, as letters sprout out of the blue. It takes a while; he admires the plane’s dogged persistence. At least there’s little wind today. Although some of the smoke smudges in the curves, like ink touched before dry, the end result is fully legible, if a little puzzling. DW♥TSWIFT."
First Dean thought someone was trying to mess with him. Now he's pretty sure someone's writing love letters to him over the Topeka skyline.
Comments: 10/10 so freakin adorable. So fluffy and so cute. SPOILER FOR THE FIC: Gabriel is the newbie at the local news station where Dean is the weatherman, he plays a prank on Dean by having his brother Cas write embarrassing letters in the sky.
Love, Take Your Toll by aileenrose
Summary: Cas sees hundreds of faces every day, but there's only one that he really cares about.
Comments: 9/10 quite adorable. I like how it’s spaced out into a couple of months, and it shows how Cas gradually becomes familiar with the long black car and the green eyed man. It’s realistic how Cas doesn’t immediately know and recognize Dean after meeting him. I like how most of their conversations aren’t more than 30 seconds, it’s cute and sweet.
Welcome, everyone! With the recent influx of author appreciation and call for comments on fics, I thought I’d jump in, too! I primarily read fics for Destiel, and I thought it would be fun to feature a different fic every month on my blog!
[Also I’m sorry I didn’t pick a fic for July. I got a work promotion which is yay!!!! but it also takes up a lot of my time. Reading fics is low on the list of things I need to do now, but hopefully I’ll be able to read enough to keep this up!]
AUGUST PICK: Love, Take Your Toll by aileenrose
Cas sees hundreds of faces every day, but there's only one that he really cares about.
Listen guys, this fic is everything. You want fluff? You got it! Angst? There is that, too. Cuteness and falling in love and warmth? This fic is for you. The summary does not tell you much, but this is about Cas seeing Dean every day when he goes through his toll booth. Eventually they begin talking (and jamming up traffic while they’re at it!) and fall in love through the holidays. My favorite part is when Cas is working on Thanksgiving and Dean brings his food through the toll booth. It’s adorable, and if you have not experienced this gem of a fic yet, read it! It’s only 8k words too, so it’s a quick read. Check it out and leave your comments for this amazing piece of work.
