Ukraine to Get Frankenstein-style Air Defence Systems - Technology Org
While Russia has lied many times that the Air Force of Ukraine is dead, it is still alive and active. However, there is no denying the fact that Russians are launching an incredible number of air attacks against Ukraine regularly.
Helicopters, planes, cruise missiles and drones are constantly trying the air defence in Ukraine. US specialists are running the FrankenSAM program, the goal of which is to create special, unique air defence systems, which would benefit Ukraine.

Ivan Kirichevski, a military expert at Defense Express, said that the American FrankenSAM program aims to equip older Soviet-era air defence systems, such as the 9K37 Buk, with modern Western missiles. The problem is that Ukraine has launchers and they can also be found in other former Eastern Bloc countries. But they don’t have a lot of ammunition left for them.
Russia, the developer of these weapons, is not going to supply missiles to shoot down their own planes and cruise missiles. So now clever military engineers are trying to adapt completely different missiles for the older systems.
“The FrankenSAM project envisions adapting Soviet air defence missile systems, which may no longer have missiles, to American missiles, of which there is still a good number. For example, the adaptation of Buk systems to AIM-7 missiles is being done. These missiles will be able to shoot down Shahed drones, cruise missiles or some other targets near the front line,” explained Kirichevski.
According to a military expert, the FrankenSAM project is a real revolution in air defence. No one has yet paired American missiles with Soviet air defence systems. This would open up new possibilities for supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and would help to quickly and effectively strengthen the air defence of Ukraine.
One of the advantages of supplying complete Western air defence systems to Ukraine is that the defenders of Ukraine have experience in operating and servicing the older Soviet launchers.
“The US transfers technology to us because it’s not enough to just have launchers – you need to be able to maintain them. That’s why the Pentagon transferred these technologies. As part of FrankenSAM, technology that costs hundreds of millions is transferred to us.
The FrankenSAM project is a revolution in air defence. No one has ever organized the serial application of American missiles to Soviet air defence systems,” Kirichevski emphasized.

The AIM-7 Sparrow is technically an air-to-air missile, typically launched from fighter jets and other aircraft. The Buk is obviously a ground-based air defence system. However, it wouldn’t be the first time that an air–to-air missile gets adapted to operations from the ground. Hopefully, this will extend the possibilities of the Ukrainian air defence.

(and I’m reblogging this since Brittany posted it, and I wanted to tell my bestie that no no no, I like you a lot, okay? like, always and forever. And it’s kind of scary, cause there’s practically no one I feel as comfortable with, which means my brain spends even more time worrying about whether it’s safe or not to feel so comfortable and safe being your friend…but I always try to tell my brain to shut up, because I never want to doubt our friendship. That’s the scariest thing ever. >.<)
I JUST SAW THIS AND GOT SUPER EMOTIONAL <3 <3
AND IT'S SAFE I SWEAR. I'M A HARMLESS LITTLE CATERPILLAR AND IT'S OKAY AND NOW I'M JUST GONNA ROLL IN A PUDDLE OF EMOTIONS

Thanks lovelies. I spoke to her and told her that I needed to leave the meeting early and why, and she said that was fine. She actually hadn't realised my calendar was busy at that time and felt really bad about it.
So it should all be ok. Love you both <3
