Wakes
Despite all enacted movements being
surely deliberate, not all — doubtless
fewer than many — keep purpose afloat
—
by their mistaken wakes. I’ve forgotten
what more can be duly done beyond just
continuing to float on while dreamed
—
horizons fall further behind. There must
have existed ember motives, but this sea
provides no clear guidance; instead, only
—
storms that leave me turned-about, and
sirens inviting deep descent from the next
deceptive breeze so cruelly, keenly ready
—
for unleashing cold laughter at my back
once again when learning from past folly
has assuredly become a failed journey
—
with neither blue-bright beginnings, nor
some sweetly satisfying end redeeming
every deadweight struggle since fought
