spoilers for Riptide 120
hello anyone wanna talk about Edyn asking Gillion if people are born evil and their answers to it
because Gillion said he doesn't think people are born good or evil, they are just born and i can't stop thinking about it
i thought it was really interesting that his first instinct was to answer "yes" with no hesitation but then he thought about it for two seconds and changed his answer
like this guy spent like 80 episodes sniffing for evil and instantly running over to stab it. and yeah he's been doing it less and less for a long time and with much more calculated stabbing but still that was his thing, because that's what he was raised to do
and now he's actually seen the world and met so many different people and realized that it really is not that black and white
And I think Edyn's answer to the same question makes this really cool (even tho it was Doppeledyn and she was definitely manipulating them and probably trying to make it seem like she really just hated the admiral and, to some extent, the elders but whatever she was still using Real Edyn's thoughts and emotions)
Because, just like Gillion, she started in the Undersea and then left to see the world and meet new people but she ended up with the opposite conclusion
she saw the Undersea treat her little brother as a weapon that was never good enough when he was just a little kid and when she went up, she found immensely powerful people who only cared about themselves and their goals and all of these people are quite literally ready to doom the whole world for their own goals not caring at all about the innocent people getting caught in the crossfire
Edyn saw people do such horrendous things and now believes that some people were just born without any good in their hearts
Gillion was raised to believe that everyone was either good or evil and during his time on the surface he learnt that it's never that simple
