Does the Air Dock Affect Battery Life?
The evolution of technology has been a miraculous thing to watch. From radio to television, from black-and-white to color pictures, from cords and outlets to wireless and Wi-Fi. Our technological world is on the move, and the only direction that’s seen is up.
Our technology has made our lives convenient with better access. We have to ability to do all our work on our smartphones and we have tablets that are easier to carry around with us than a laptop. But with improvements come questions, such as: how will we keep all these gadgets charged?
It used to be that you would have to carry around your charger with you just in case your phone or tablet ran out of battery, and they always seemed to run out of juice at the most inconvenient times. Not anymore. Everything else has gone wireless — why not our phone chargers as well? With a wireless phone dock you won’t have the frustration of an extra cord to plug into your phone anymore. It’s the time of the Air Dock.
The Air Dock is a wireless phone charger that mounts in a car, or anywhere else you want to stick it. It holds the back of your phone with the help of micro-suction foam and magnets. The micro-suction foam is like a whole bunch of miniature suction cups that stick to the glossy back of your phone. The magnets are strategically placed in the dock to align with metal discs that are embedded in the back of your wireless phone to help the phone stay in place and get a charge.
The main concern for most people is if the battery life will be affected by the magnets if they leave their phone on the wireless dock. It used to be that you would be in a pickle if you overcharged any device, and the phone’s battery life would decrease significantly over time. Also, magnets have never been good for batteries. Not so with the Air Dock. There are no long- or short-term effects from leaving your wireless device charging, though it is still better to use your battery significantly and then charge it back up to 100 percent. The magnets are also there to hold your phone in place and help it get the charge — thus having no effect on your battery life for long-term plans.

Air Dock is the next generation of wireless charging
These days, technology is rapidly adapting and advancing to make our lives more convenient. From electric cars to wireless Internet, our world is changing — even to the relatively recent world of mobile phones.
Now there’s a new way to charge your smartphone. The Air Dock is a wireless phone charger that holds your phone without any clips, clamps or plug-ins. As a charging dock, your phone’s battery rejuvenates by simply resting on the foam surface. Because of the micro-suction foam surface and the magnets inside the Air Dock, your phone will be securely held without slipping off.
Unlike other phone chargers, the wireless Air Dock doesn’t require your phone to be plugged in. And the micro suction foam face is pretty cool. You can hold the phone charger upside down and your phone will stay on. But your phone is easy to pull off. The only downside to the foam though is the fact that the back of your phone needs to be a smooth, glossy surface. Otherwise it won’t stick very well. Luckily, most phones are smooth themselves or have glossy cases available. However if a glossy back isn’t your style, there are also magnets just under the surface which will pull nicely on the metal discs embedded in some phones and tablets. The connection may be slightly weaker than a phone with a glossy surface.
A Qi wireless charger is built into the dock so any phone that supports Qi charging will recharge your phone’s battery — just from sitting on it. Revolutionary in the world of wireless phone chargers, the Air Dock is compatible with many of today’s top smartphones. These are the currently recommended smartphones for the Air Dock: iPhone 4 and 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4, Nexus 4 and 5, LG G2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and 3. If you use any of these smartphones, the dock may come in handy. But soon it won’t be limited to those specific users. The producers of the Air Dock are constantly working to test more and more phones in order to make the wireless phone charger compatible with all types of phones.
Founder and CEO Greg Fackrell plans to ship the first batch of products in April 2014. “Building and testing the Air Dock has been a blast,” Fackrell said. “There is nothing I enjoy more than having an idea and then turning it into a finished and working product.”
Each Air Dock comes with a suction-cup mount (ideal for a car dashboard); one two-amp, cigarette lighter-to-USB power supply; and one micro-USB cable. The package is everything you need to cut the cords and start charging — hands-free.
