Despite having flown multiple times, to me gazing out an airplane window never gets old. Ever. Even the least scenic flight has things worth seeing. Up, up, & away. Back to Boston with my head & heart filled with so much goodness. ✈️ . @wanderlustfest Wellspring 2018. A major success. From the teachers, to the panels, the exhibitors, and workshops—I continually stepped up and out of my comfort zone in order to •g r o w• & that’s exactly what I did. . I’ve been educated. Informed. Connected. As to what’s happening NOW not only in the wellness space, but in the world.🌎 . I lived in an “ignorance is bliss” mindset, well, my whole life. But this weekend, filled with incredible people doing all that they can to be the change they wish to see in the world, showed me I need to KNOW and LEARN about this shit in order to help CHANGE it. . The universe brought me layers and layers of beautiful moments. Some that will help guide my journey for days, months, and years to come. Some where friendships have been born and can be nourished with love & light. (Cough cough @yogawithelyza 🔮) . As I journey home, back to the very different world of Boston, I am grateful. For my life. For my students. For my studios. And for my opportunity to share each time that I teach, what I hope to see happen for us. More love. More light. More kindness. More compassion. But 👈🏻THAT all starts with loving o u r s e l v e s first. Shining light in our h o m e s first. Being kind to US. Finding compassion for OUR OWN humanness. . The human experience is a wild one. Ebbs & flows. Twists & turns. Let’s continue to show up. Stand up. Who stole your bricks?

We all know them. They’re the people who make us up and tear us down. They build theirs but tear others down. They use our bricks the chip away to build up theirs and make them stronger. When they’ve removed the last brick of ours and placed it on their own they destroy the now open. Their own bricks laid layer upon layer and they’ve destroyed another. They crumbled each layer of ours but never gave us the chance to chip at theirs. They expect us to help them build theirs but give no notice that they’re tearing down ours. They let us believe they are crumbling the bricks. How do they feel? Why do they do it? Why are they so greedy with others bricks but fear someone taking theirs? When will they let their bricks fall and crumble and not rebuild their walls?

30,000 feet thoughts

The morning of the departure back to SF from Yellowstone park, I sensed something was going on with her. I've always had a knack for knowing when she wasn't feeling too well or if she was having a bad day. There was nothing I could do but give her words due to the difference in our locations. However I soon found out afterwards that I had a connecting flight in LAX, it wasn't a direct flight. She lived an hour away from LAX. I immediately told her that and her mood did a 180 turn. Though it was only a 3 hour layover, it didn't matter because it meant I was able to see her, watch her facial expressions that correlated with what she saying, be in her presence. I gave her my ETA at LAX but I've always been horrible with estimating time. I was 30 minutes late. Once the plane touched land, I received snapchats and texts from her and her best friend. Both of them were so excited to see me. They went inside the airport, to lobby area, then to the baggage claims, and I was nowhere to be found cause I was still on the plane. They eventually went back into the car and waited there cause I took too long haha. When I finally came out and my eyes fell onto her face, my heart stopped and I went weak in my knees. The last time I saw her before that LAX visit was probably a month and a half ago. I went into the car and happily greeted her best friend, I haven't seen her best friend in a long time as well and I was so rejoiced by this unplanned coincidental visit. We went to in n out and got boba nearby. It was great catching up and reminiscing with the both of them. Every time she laughed, my smile got bigger and I began to admire her even more. I forgot how much I missed the sound of her laughter. It was so distinct and you would immediately know it's her. Her laugh was the one thing I missed the most. Time was running out and we both knew it. My plane was going to depart soon back to SF. I didn't want to leave, I wanted to stay in LA with her. It just wasn't enough time. But we both knew I had to board that plane. She was driving me back and when I saw the United Airlines Departure sign, my heart sunk. Once the car made a complete stop, I made a silly comment and went in for a quick goodbye kiss. I lingered for a second after that kiss wanting to kiss her more but I knew I had to go. Her car could only stop there for a few minutes before the security came back and her best friend was already out of the car waiting for a goodbye hug. I got out and wished her best friend a safe drive back and thanked her for coming to visit me on such short notice. I waved bye as the car slowly drove off. I stood there until I could no longer see the car and then proceeded towards security check.

Thoughts while I'm 30,000 feet up in the air

The last time I was on a plane was summer of last year. I was headed towards Yellowstone park. The sights and views were breath-taking. Nothing like I’ve ever seen before. Everything was amazing but there was one important thing missing. Cell service. It was my only way of contacting her. You see she lived in SoCal and I lived in NorCal so we couldn’t see each other often. Though it was long distance, we texted every day no matter how pointless the conversation may have been. It was the fact that she was on the other side of the phone that mattered. I was at Yellowstone park for what seemed like eternity but in reality was 3 days. I would constantly check my phone for service wanting to tell her about what I saw, how my day was, what the weather was like. I would climb the highest mountains with my phone in my hands and my arms stretched up high hoping that my text would send. This summer I’m on the plane heading towards Alaska and all I can think about is how different everything is now between me and her. We had a falling out at the end of last summer and things took a turn for the worse from there. It’s been a little over a year and yet I still find myself unknowingly thinking back on those little random memories. I don’t stay there long. I snap myself back to the present.

We’ve been through so much in the span of that year. Many tears, many arguments, a lot of anger being thrown at each other. I was never one to forgive let alone forget. I tried so hard to put that behind me and let go but every now and then she would resurface. I’ve gotten better now, the painful feeling would only last a couple minutes and I quickly regain my composure soon afterwards. It’s unfortunate how everything came to be. I guess we just both have a knack for chaos never smooth sailing.
