Hello @pastriesandsweetszine! This is my entry for the sweet / dessert gijinka contest.
Since I’m Malaysian I wanted to try designing for a local dessert, so I went with one of the most popular Malaysian desserts, which is Ais Kacang. Ais Kacang basically means “Bean Ice” in Malay. Ais Kacang is usually composed of shaved ice, red beans, colourful syrup, sweet corns, peanuts and occasionally cendol or a scoop of ice cream on top.
In my design I mainly wanted to bring out the colours of the syrup and red bean, so I chose pink, green and dark maroon as the most striking colours. I also wanted to portray the shape of both the ice cream scoop and shaved ice, hence making her hair into an ice cream-like bun and her lower part of the dress as shaved ice. She also has a peanut-coloured skin.
