Later, as night fell at the gas station.

Varios se habían reunido en el negocio. Mientras en las afueras del local había varias chicas, como de costumbre, haciendo punto.

Several people had gathered at the store. Meanwhile, outside the premises, several girls were waiting for customers, as usual.

Peach: Me gustaría saber cómo está Enrico, después de lo que le sucedió no lo hemos visto. En el trabajo pidió unos días libres.

Lili: Sí, pero casi no lo conocemos como a Adriano o Amador.

Peach: Amador aún está encarcelado y tampoco lo hemos visitado. Las cosas para ellos están complicadas según lo que nos contaron, porque en la fiesta había alguien vendiendo estupefacientes y para empeorarlo encontraron a varios que habían comprado.

Peach: I'd like to know how Enrico is doing. After what happened to him, we haven't seen him. He asked for some time off from work.

Lili: Yes, but we barely know him like we did Adriano or Amador.

Peach: Amador is still in prison, and we haven't visited him either. Things are complicated for them, according to what they told us, because someone was selling drugs at the party, and to make matters worse, they found several people who had bought them.

Peach se acerca por un rato a la calle a hacer señas para detener algún carro, luego regresa con Lili para seguir hablando.

Lili: Hablando del trabajo, aún nos están entrenando bien antes de hacer presentaciones en público. Mientras no estemos trabajando, seguiremos aquí haciendo punto con las demás chicas, ya que las cuentas no se pagan solas.

Peach walks out onto the street for a moment, signaling for cars to stop, then returns to Lili to continue talking.

Lili: Speaking of work, we're still getting some serious training before we do public appearances. While we're not working, we'll continue here with the other girls, since the bills don't pay themselves.

Lili: Hablando de otras cosas, yo estaba leyendo el horóscopo y decía que esta semana tendría buena suerte.

¿Y leíste lo que las estrellas tenían para ti esta semana? 🧐 Pregunto a Peach

Peach: Yo no leí nada sobre eso de mi signo… Tú sabes que esas cosas no van conmigo. 🙅‍♀️

Lili: Estás muy distraída, nada de malo tiene saber tu futuro; yo hasta compré una pata de conejo. Sabes,  dicen que son de buena suerte.

Peach: Buena suerte, dices. Si así lo fuera como dices “de buena suerte”, entonces el conejo no habría perdido su pata. Pero el pobre tuvo tan mala suerte que por eso perdió su propia pata. 🐰

Lili: ¡Qué chistosa! 🤣

Como sea, voy a esforzarme mucho porque ese trabajo es mi oportunidad de salir de la pobreza. Exclamó Lili entusiasmada.

Peach: Aquí en la noche vienen muchos a pasar el rato aquí.

Lili: Espero encontrar a alguien con mucho dinero que requiera mi servicio.

Lili: Speaking of other things, I was reading my horoscope, and it said I'd have good luck this week.

And did you read what the stars had in store for you this week? 🧐 ask to Peach.

Peach: I didn't read anything about my sign... You know, that kind of thing isn't for me. 🙅‍♀️

Lili: You're very distracted. There's nothing wrong with knowing your future. I even bought a rabbit's foot. You know, they say they're good luck.

Peach: Good luck, you say. If it were, like you say, "good luck," then the rabbit wouldn't have lost its foot. But the poor animal was so unlucky that he lost his own foot. 🐰

Lili: How funny! 🤣

Anyway, I'm going to work hard because that job is my chance to escape poverty! Lili exclaimed excitedly.

Peach: A lot of people come here at night to hang out.

Lili: I hope to find someone with a lot of money who will use my services.

Abu al-Hasan and Aisha

King and Queen of Granada

Abu al-Hasan Ali, known as Muley Hacén in Spanish, was more belligerent than his recent predecessors. He built up the Muslim army and its capacity for offensive action, with the help and support of his equally strong-willed primary wife Aisha. One Arab chronicler called Abu al-Hasan as “magnanimous and valiant, a lover of wars, and the dangers and horrors of them.” It was a time of glorious Islamic expansion, and no doubt he wanted to emulate the successes being achieved by the Ottoman Turks in the east, confident that God was on his side as well as theirs. Abu al-Hasan grew steadily bolder and more determined. He did not seize land but instead concentrated on raids that brought “rich spoils of booty and captives.” In 1478, he staged a huge military parade to put his troops and armaments on display. This new aggressiveness, coming as it did at a time when the Ottoman Empire was expanding in the Balkans, was worrisome to the Castilians, who feared that the Nasrid would ally themselves with the Turks and allow them to use their Mediterranean ports for a future invasion of Spain.

His primary wife Aisha had been his cousin, lover, friend, supporter, and adviser. She is generally known under her Spanish name Aixa, and was also known by the Muslims as Fatima due to the fact that she was one of the living descendents of the Prophet Muhammed. She played a key role in maintaining loyalty among ranks and file of Muslim army and his household. The trouble began when he began showing preference for a pretty young Christian woman Isabel de Solís in his harem. The Arab sources claim that “two very beautiful women in his harem that he loved more than the others.” Isabel was converted to Islam after marriage with the sultan, and took the name Soraya (Zoraya). Abu Hasan had become badly smitten with Soraya, and together they had two children, whom he favored over the heir apparent and first son through Aisha. The eldest son was Prince Boabdil. Aisha resented this “She hated the infidel and converted Isabel de Solís (Soraya) and her two children favored by the sultan. She spared no attempts to try to kill them all including children.” This family spat soon engulfed many influential nobles and military commanders of Abu Hasan, and Aisha urged her son Boabdil to try to unseat his own father. Abu al-Hasan’s reputation suffered. Where he had formerly been viewed as a mighty warrior in defense of Islam, he now came to be seen as “hard and cruel,” and his son Boabdil came to be perceived as the courtly one, “affable and graciously mannered.” Arab sources describe this family schism as the beginning of the fall of Muslim empire in Spain.
