I am a big fan of tea, but I don't consider myself a tea snob because I don't really care about burning it (I will bring boiling water to 100°C and pour it on green tea leaves rather than only boiling it to 79°C? Who cares?????) or over steeping it (I will leave my tea bag in for 10 or 15 minutes, idgaf)

However, I don't use sugar, rarely use honey (most likely to use with lemon or lemon ginger tea), and only occasionally use milk (because we don't always have it in the house)

So, I will drink builder's tea straight black and steeped for 15 minutes, or burnt green tea, or artisan loose leaf tea

I don't remember what ask game this went to, so I'm just gonna ramble.

Something something CQL AU where after rescuing Qin Su during the Sunshot Campaign, Meng Yao has to bring her to the war camp for a while, where she works with Jiang Yanli seeing to supplies and food. She's offered a chance to go to Lanling and wait out the fighting, but she's finding herself happy being useful instead of just a daughter in need of protection and making connections within the cultivation world. Qin Su was not trained as a cultivator, so she'd missed out on the Lan lectures, and Jiang Yanli is enjoying the novelty of being able to mentor someone besides the littlest shidis and shimeis.

Jiang Yanli and Nie Huaisang have been pen pals since Lan Camp, and she's still trying to decide if he's angling to marry her himself or match her up with his brother. (She doesn't think she wants a fighter for a husband; she's half-mothered two of them already.) They continue their correspondence as the war picks up steam, where Nie Huaisang proves adept at arranging for a steady supply of the kinds of things that keep morale up in a war camp: snacks and ingredients beyond the basics, good socks, ~inspiring reading material~. (Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian are scandalized when they realize jiejie's how those particular booklets keep showing up.)

When Jiang Yanli and Qin Su write to him that Meng Yao has disappeared, he starts listening to the rumors. Defecting to the Wen makes no sense, even with his messy departure from the Nie Sect. Something else must be going on.

(The end of the war proves him right.)

Something something soup drama doesn't happen, or happens differently, or whatever, and the xuanli betrothal stays dissolved. (Maybe Wen Qing is rescued by Jin forces and accepts a different proposal in this AU, an offer to protect her family from someone who can actually back it up. She never expected a love match anyway.)

Jiang Yanli and Nie Huaisang are courting by now, but slowly—he understands her need to stay with her brothers right now more than anyone. Qin Su keeps them both appraised of her and Jin Guangyao's efforts to secure their parents' blessings. Her mother is strangely resistant, and Nie Huaisang's spidey senses are tingling, and something something SECRETS ARE LEARNED AHEAD OF ANY WEDDINGS OR BETROTHALS.

So Qin Su becomes Nie furen, and Jin Guangyao receives permission to marry out to the Jiang Sect, and Jiang Cheng's not entirely sure why Nie Mingjue still treats it like an alliance between the Jiang and the Nie, but he's not looking that gift horse in the mouth.

(Maybe in a few more years, Jin Zixuan is watching the way Jiang Yanli and Jin Guangyao and Qin Su and Nie Huaisang all orbit around each other and realizes he and Wen Qing might have a better chance with their mutual crush in Yunmeng than they thought.)

(Wen Ning, not dead, falls head over heels for Mianmian. They have the least complicated courtship of anyone in their generation.)

wip ask game! Qingchengxian?

This came from a combination of me and my pal AO3 user sugar_shoal talking about how there's not enough qingchengxian content in the world + this post positing a modern ChengQing AU where Jiang Cheng marries Wen Qing for EMINENTLY PRACTICAL REASONS i.e. taking care of A'Yuan.

In my version of this chengxian are already together + cohabitating so JC's spur of the moment marriage proposal upends the status quo.

"You'd do the same," he mutters, knowing the back of his neck is reddening. "Maybe," Wei Wuxian says, voice turning serious. "But I didn't think of it. Thank you." He presses a kiss to Jiang Cheng's neck. "Though I'll miss you when you move into your bridal suite," he adds lightly, then laughs and ducks away when Jiang Cheng aims an elbow at his gut. "Fuck off, who said I'm going anywhere?" Jiang Cheng turns away from the door to follow Wei Wuxian back into the living room. "Come on, does this look like a place you can plausibly live with a wife and child?"

I couldn't find any interesting thread connecting enough of my fics, so for this I just looked at my woh works, sorted by kudos in ascending order

1. let the wine of friendship never run dry

The two of them alone are challenging enough to handle.

2. entry without exit

Han Ying meets his gaze, and sees the man who saved his life.

3. moonlight and memories

He tilts his head up and looks at the moon, happy and content.

4. kiss and make up

It was only much later at dinner that Wen Kexing abruptly dropped his chopsticks and asked, “So who won?”

5. intrigue and intimacies

Even so, he and Han Ying don’t take to the road again for a few more hours.

They left together, and Xingming watched them with wide eyes as he sank further into his hiding spot.

With apologies to Lao Wen, and with apologies to Ying'er, it was exactly that simple.

Turnabout is fair play, Wen Kexing decides, and murmurs, “My Ying’er is amazing,” right against Han Ying’s lips.

With Wen Kexing and Han Ying at his side, Zhou Zishu knows, there is nothing that can stand in their way.

I'd say the general vibe is that I close with introspection? but also I'm mildly surprised to find any dialogue in my last lines

once again something i've written quickly last night and haven't yet read myself:

Wen Kexing had grumbled and huffed at him, as if Zhou Zishu was being fussy and not pragmatic, but in front of the mirror his face had gone round and soft, gaze dreamy in a way it only was when he seemed to feel entirely safe and wholeheartedly in the moment. Zhou Zishu had tipped his head back to kiss his mouth once done, his heart smarting. Wen Kexing’s faith was a vow not made lightly, and Zhou Zishu’s own had been made long before he had become aware that his guard was lowering; not to hurt him, to find ways to keep harm off him, and to make sure that boyish, innocent dreaminess Zhou Zishu had been honored to get a glimpse of for the first time at the Zhao Coffin House courtyard would remain whole, intact inside Wen Kexing’s chest.

#13: zzs und wkx auf dem marktplatz (lit. zzs and wkx on the market place), episode 12

this is actually the first set i worked on when i switched giffing devices! it was supposed to capture the happiness and romance of that moment in episode 12, and i reused parts of it in another gifset (the graphic text). i hadn't really figured out yet what i needed to do to make the images and colours look like they were supposed to so it ended up being a practice project

but it's the reason there are so many ep12 edits!!!! because i could not help myself :D

below are first tries of the project (left), as well as what i ended up using (right):

honorary mention of the below project, which is technically a set that exists twice over even (the colouring), but is also another version of the above, and i should've mentioned it in the wip post itself because i'm NOT DONE WITH IT
