R.I.P. Otto <3
We had to have one of our dogs put to sleep this morning. He was fine and suddenly started having trouble standing and was leaning to one side. Thought it may have been low blood sugar but not sure why since he got the same amount of food an insulin as always. Mom took him to the vet and they did some tests and said he’d developed a tumor that was causing the insulin not to work properly any more. He’s being cremated and they’re making a little paw print thing for us to keep. We’re donating a lot of his old toys, new packs of needles, etc. to the vet’s office where they’ll give them to dogs who need them.
At least it happened quickly and he didn’t have to deal with it long since he had to many other things going on. No more shots twice a day (3 years of that helped me get used to giving my MS shots to myself). No more walking into things cos he was mostly blind. No more itchiness from allergies he always got. No more prescription food. He actually played with me for a few minutes this morning, which he rarely did any more.
16 years as a loyal dog and family member. See you on the rainbow bridge, Otto. And you’ll be able to see us again. <3
