it looks like bokuakakuro are trying to convince daichi to join a foursome because it really is what's happening
“You’ve got something on your lip, here let me.” and akadai please?
From the 50 cliche tropes and prompts list.
Daichi loved eating, almost as much as Keiji did. It was obvious in the way he smiled, humming to himself between bites, the way he was otherwise silent through their meal. It was enough to make Keiji almost miss out on his own food, so entranced was he by the way Daichi was so very happy. Daichi ate slowly, savoring every bite like it was a gift from the heavens. At long last, Keiji couldn’t take it anymore.
“You have something on your lip,” he said. Daichi went cross-eyed, as though trying to see his own mouth. Keiji smiled. “Here, let me,” he said, and leaned forward across the table. Daichi went still as Keiji brushed his thumb across Daichi’s lower lip, then brought his thumb to his own mouth, licking off the piece of rice. Daichi made a small, pained sound, his eyes going soft and his jaw hanging open.
“Hey, hey, hey, Akaashi, what was that all about?” Keiji swore internally. He had been so wrapped up in Daichi that he had forgotten where they were. All the captains and vice captains at the training camp were staring at them from around the table. He felt his cheeks go warm as Sugawara waggled his eyebrows and Kuroo smirked.
Daichi stood abruptly, nearly knocking his chair over. Keiji wanted nothing more than to sink into the ground and never be seen again.
“Akaashi-kun, would you come with me for a moment?”
Crap. That was Daichi’s Captain Voice. Keiji had heard him use it on the members of his team, and on Bokuto and Kuroo. He had never wanted to hear it used on him. Well, okay, maybe he had, but in a different circumstance, and he would never mention that to anyone, least of all himself, and he shouldn’t be thinking about that in the middle of the lunch room surrounded by all their teams and their fellow captains and-
“Akaashi-kun.” Keiji swallowed hard and stood. He followed Daichi out of the lunch room like a puppy who had misbehaved, tail between his legs and ears drooping. He could feel the eyes of all the players on them both, and he knew he would be the source of gossip all day.
Daichi led him outside to one of the storage sheds, tucked away in a shadowy corner where no one ever went. Keiji opened his mouth to apologize for embarrassing Daichi in front of everyone, but before he could say a word Daichi’s hands were on his face and Daichi’s lips were on his.
“Sorry-” Daichi said, pulling away with a gasp. “I’m sorry, I should have asked first, I should have-”
“Kiss me again,” Keiji ordered.
“What?”
“Kiss me again. If you want to, that is.” Daichi blinked at him.
“I’m sorry, I’m not following,” Daichi said. Keiji sighed.
“Look, I like you. I’m pretty sure you like me. So. Kiss me again. If you want to. Because I want you to.” Daichi didn’t say a word after that, didn’t for quite some time. They came back to the lunch room as the meal was ending, disheveled and bruised-lipped and grinning.
Keiji found he didn’t mind the gossip, not one bit.
Of Owls and Badges
Day 1 - Owls Day 2 - Food Day 3 - Angst Day 4 - Age Swap Day 5 - AU Day 6 - Shipping
The shipping yard was not Akaashi’s favourite spot in the world. The docks always had a certain smell that Akaashi could never quite get out of his clothes for weeks afterward. But, all signs pointed to this particular shipping yard being Bokuto’s most likely hideout.
It was also quite unfortunate that most of this section of the shipping yard was left exquisitely abandoned. This meant searching, on foot so as to remain as quiet as possible, nearly a square kilometre of buildings and old fisheries. Akaashi would have to burn these clothes by the end of the day.
“And you are absolutely certain this is the right place, Akaashi?” Sawamura was glancing around with suspicion. Though Akaashi had convinced him to ditch his badge and iron cuffs back in his rooms, he still reeked of Constabulary enforcement. It was a habit Akaashi was going to have to break him of.
“Inspector, your lack of detective ability is astounding,” Akaashi answered as he pointed to the makeshift hangar dead ahead. “That aeroballoon is definitely Bokuto’s. This is likely where they’re stashing the spoils of their heists. There’s no way to tell how many buildings they’re using. We might as well investigate them all.” Akaashi began to walk towards the nearest building, lock picks in hand.
Together, they made quick work throughout the shipping yard. Finding nothing of note, their next option was the hangar. There was a sizzle in Akaashi’s veins. He had one man by his side, and the other, hopefully, behind the next door.
He could hardly wait to see what grand adventure was awaiting them all.
And Everything Was Fine

Kuroo would rather be anywhere than at this party. Though he was using the term party very loosely at this point. They were all in their thirties, they didn’t party per say more like a small gathering of old friends with a few drinks and food. People had to get home early to relieve sitters and they had work early in the morning. Other adult things that made Kuroo’s stomach twist and pull in odd ways.
Kuroo wasn’t jealous, not really. He was glad for his friends who managed to snag dream jobs and those who had started families or were beginning to start families. He was happy to hear about trips to far away places and upcoming vacations. He wasn’t jealous but he did feel stuck.
Going to university had been a no brainer for Kuroo. He was at the top of his class in high school and he had done fantastically in college. He had even managed to get a decent research job using his degree after he graduated. But then the funds had dried up when the research led nowhere and Kuroo had been out of a job. He spent his days working at an onsen and nights bartending while he continued to room with his college roommate.

“I was just kind of hoping that you’d, y’know…fall in love with me.” - AkaDai - Ezzy
He can feel his heart throbbing in his chest, veins pumping blood to the beat of the bass echoing through the air, ribs pressing against his lungs with each not quite steady breath. It aches. It always does, it always has, when Daichi exists so close to him. Keiji could reach out and touch Daichi’s arm, drag his fingers down the bare skin to tangle their fingers together. He could smile sweetly and lean in close until the rumble of Daichi’s laugh is a vibration against his chest. He could lean his head against Daichi’s shoulder. He could tuck himself against Daichi’s side and share playful looks with him.
He could.
Because he fell in love with Daichi a long time ago.
But he won’t.
Because today’s the day he’s letting himself fall out of love with him. Almost a year and a half later.
He blinks rapidly as the emotions swell in time with the music, pressing his fist to his mouth to bite down on his thumb, nearly hard enough to break the skin, almost hard enough to distract himself from the tears trying to well up.
Daichi’s hand is warm when he takes Keiji’s wrist and tugs his hand away from his face.
He can already feel his cheeks and nose turning an ugly shade of blotched red as Daichi looks at him with worry.
“What’s wrong?”
His breath in is a snuffling wet thing - Keiji is an ugly crier like the world has rarely ever seen and he knows it - and Daichi frowns in concern.
“Oh just, uh,” Keiji clears his throat, voice barely loud enough to be heard over the music of the club. “I was just kind of hoping that you’d, y’know…fall in love with me.”
“What like right now?” His face twists into something amused, apparently at Keiji’s expense, and Keiji shakes his head in frustration. Of course Daichi wouldn’t get it. Daichi’s been blockheaded and oblivious to Keiji’s growing feelings since day one. He can feel his jaw quivering and he pulls out of Daichi’s grip to wipe angrily at his cheeks.
“Forget it. Forget I said anything. Just. Write it off as having one too many of Sugawara’s drinks tonight.”
Daichi huffs a laugh and he’s close enough that his breath brushes Keiji’s cheek.
“Babe,” he murmurs. “I’ve been trying to get you to date me for like seventeen months.”
“What?” Keiji asks flatly.
“I just figured you weren’t into that sort of thing.” Daichi’s hand is warm on his wrist again and when he tugs on it Keiji slides just a little bit closer. “But maybe I just need to try one more time.”
Daichi smiles at him.
It aches.
And he falls in love all over again.
