Akil and Nine in a nutshell.

I decided that this year, I wanted to redo all of my TH busts, and try making things more uniform. Which means basic forward-facing busts. My goal is to do at least two a month until I've finished all my OCs.

These two are Dawson and Akil, belonging to Ether and me!

@katzenblut okay i have like. ten billion but rn i wanna talk about Akil so please bear with me.

Akil appears to be a pirate. And he is, technically. But he's not actually human.

You see, he's an escapee demon. Hell is incredibly hierarchical, and he was near the bottom of the ladder. But he craved the freedom that so often led the damned to where they are. If they loved it enough to lose their soul for it, surely it must be worth something?

So he planned. and he plotted. and he snuck out, took human form, and found himself a kind of freedom he never imagined!

He bound his energy both to his jacket and to his ship, meaning that they can repair themselves over time, but he can also feel damage done to them.

he also eventually found a creature to bond with, and it became his best friend, Maelstrom! (species and art by @ribbonfemale )

Akil is very charismatic and cunning, and for the most part doesn't care about fucking over others to get his way. That's just how hell is run, and he doesn't feel bad about it.

Except for his crew. His crew is his pride, and he'll do anything for them. Quite a lot of the people he takes on are from situations that remind him of his own- the downtrodden, the hurt, the escapees. Those that aren't extended help to him in an hour of need, when screwing him over would have been much easier. More beneficial.

With his crew, he is understanding. He is kind, and patient, and full of praise. There's a notable case, a pair of fraternal twins, 15 years old, who were escaping an abusive father and tried to sneak onto the first ship they could find, hoping to get off at the next port.

But owing to his unique connection to the ship and Maelstrom's keen senses, they were discovered almost as soon as they boarded. And after they explained through tears, he told them that if they could pull their weight, they were welcome to join the crew. He imagines what he feels is almost fatherly.

Lastly, he is being hunted down by a higher-ranked demon (art and design by @ifyviii )

she herself is not a particularly high rank, back in hell demons of her ranking are mostly used to keep the working throngs in line and retrieve wayward demons. It's just that usually, the demons they track don't leave hell.

She's considered one of the best, a nearly perfect record of rebellion quashing.

She was hired by Akil's overlord to track him down. And she will find him. eventually. But as determined as she is to bring him back, it's also not in her nature to deny the chance for mischief. After all, it's not every day a demon of her caliber is allowed on earth, and she wants to collect some souls to bolster her ranking. And also just to cause chaos, bc it's funny.

I have some adventures plotted out, both in the overarching plot and just some more singular stuff. but that's the gist of it!
