Dean: Hey Sammy? Can we talk, kiddo?
Sammy: Kay?
Dean: *sits down with him* You know on TV how some people love each other, but then something goes wrong and they aren't together anymore?
Sammy: *Nods*
Dean: Well, that's the case with me and Marcus. We're not together anymore.
Sammy: No more dad?
Dean: ...No more dad. You and me are gonna be moving to another place.
Sammy: *Sniffles* Why no more dad? Why do we gotta move?
Dean: *stays strong, has to stay strong* Because when people break up, it's very difficult for them to live together. It's less painful if we live in two separate places.
Sammy: Can I still see dad?
Dean: Of course. I'm not gonna stop you seeing him just because we're not together.

it had been a stressful few weeks. Life had chugged on pretty normally, but in her personal life, Penelope was not ... all there. She was working hard, and her professional life was not suffering, but she was more tired, stressed. it wasn't good.
She figured it was time to speak to someone. But she wasn't sure who. Marcus was a natural thought but ... he was close to the source. But simply speaking to a friend couldn't be all that bad.

She knocked on his door, sighing softly, "Marcus? Are you in?"

"I'm wrapping up notes from a patient's files. I have another appointment in five minutes. Please come back later. Oh, it's just you. How can I help you, Johnson?" Lauraine questioned, looking up from her notes.

It was afternoon. Sam was in his department. Morgan in hers. Sunshine had to go attend to Phil and his daughters. He was alone. He hated being alone. Alone he had nothing but two lives in his head. The medical staff had been great though. They'd been gentle as they could with the EEG and it was naturally abnormal. They knew why though, and were waiting on Sam's boss to return from a mission apparently, because she was one of the best. He was reluctant to deal with her, but had little choice.
He sighed and picked at his sandwich. At least the withdrawal symptoms were minimal, meds for that and his headache made it so he felt almost normal for the first time in weeks. He just wished Marcus were here. He missed him so much, and there was a tiny part that hissed in anger that Marcus' missions were never close to home and always took too long. He ignored it the best he could.
There was a knock and he looked up. "Come in."
