What is "Read me asshole"??? The title captivated me and I want to know!
(thank you in advance)
OKAY SO
'Read me asshole' is a Microsoft word document from May 1, 2018, clocking it at a whopping 198KB that was originally titled 'Read me deadname' (because I believe i wanted my brother to read it for some reason) and I just replaced his deadname with asshole because that's usually how I feel when he wants to read my stuff.
ANYWHOS
This is one of my Sci-fi WIPs from my universe 'Akiram' and I believe it was also one of my NANOWRIMO projects mostly because it is a 57,367 word, 132 page document, so it fits the bill.
Now when I was a wee menace to society (starting in 2010 I believe. I do not have my hard drive on my at the moment so I cannot confirm the date of my original NANOWRIMO participation) we were introduced to the NANOWRIMO young writers program.
If you’ve ever been part of that community you’ll know it’s absolutely collapsed due to a lot of reasons including inappropriate actions by mods as well as ai issues I believe.
Not the point of this post, just a background to a lot of my writing goals and drive and spelling problems.
Now, the Akiram universe is similar to my Melantha universe, just doesn’t have the same deep rooted need to be written and pulled form my soul. It’s basically a planet that is under a police state and has no outside contact with the rest of the solar system. It’s honestly scarily relevant in this day and age.
Now this WIP starts with two of the supporting characters, Evelyn and Max, bailing out the main character, Solomon Blaise, from jail, due to him sneaking around the military docks while apparently drunk (he wasn’t he’s just good at acting).
Side note, the name Solomon Blaise is based off of the LEGO Ultra Agents theme character, Solomon Blaze. LEGO has been very influential in a lot of my original characters. You'll see as I answer more questions.
Now one for the important factors of the Akiram universe is theres a big ass intergalactic war going on, as it happens in sci-fi stories, and citizens of the planet, also called Akiram, are not allowed off planet for any reason.
Solomon, on the other hand, is one of the most stir crazy mother fuckers you will ever meet. This has something to do with he fact that his younger brother had managed to get off planet right as the war had original broken out, so Solomon is desperately trying to get out to find his brother.
Now the reason Solomon’s brother had managed to get off planet was due to the fact that their parents were military personal, and had gotten an escape pod programmed to break out of the akiram system and on a trajectory towards a Gaia-Terrian station posted on the outskirts of the Akiram space.
Now, Solomon was supposed to be on that space pod as well, but due to the fact he was in that ornery phase of childhood, he refused, resulting in his parents being caught, and the escape pod containing his brother to barely get out of the reach of the military stations tractor beams.
Solomon didn’t see his parents after that event, and ended up being put into the Akiram welfare system for children, and now works in a very boring, very dull office planet side, while consistently trying to get off planet to find his brother.
That’s the general gist of the story, as I am currently STRUGGLING to read through it simply because of the amount of spelling mistakes in the document (nanowrimo was very adamant that you do not use the backspace button nor have spellcheck on so yeah)
But yeah, that’s ‘Read me asshole’ Thanks for asking about it!!
We’re gonna go with 1 from each WIP hows that sound?
18- Your character buys themself a treat while grocery shopping. What did they get?
Melantha - Lance: so when you live on a space ship and travel between planets, you enjoy the little things you can find. That’s why Lance likes to stock up on his testosterone as well as gummy worms, mostly because he has a sugar problem and then because it pisses Samir off when he eats them.
Faulkner Farmhouse Mystery (FFM)- Chris: Chris unfortunately does not have her license or a personal vehicle, so on the exhausting occasion where she has to go shopping with her family she tends to grab chocolate milk and kettlecorn.
Rise - Tristian: Okay so this one is kinda sorta of super hard because he works in a literal werewolf bio lab and ends up in a survival situation with literal monster hunters. But on the rare occasion he gets to a store and has spare cash he usually goes for a pack of lucky strike menthol silvers because he has a crippling nicotine addiction and does get pissy oftentimes.
Akiram - Solomon: my baby girl the queerest creature in my repertoire. Living in a strange utopia that is definitely not something more sinister means everything is regulated and monitored so treats? Treats are something you have to scrape it off the ground and pull it out of the alleyways and the darkest corners. That being said, Solomon is a sucker for a good pair of non-regulation socks, made of cotton as opposed to the shitty non-destructible material distributed by the government.
19- How would they react to somebody designing a fursona for them? If they're already some sort of animal, how about a humansona?
Melantha- Amazia: She would not be impressed but she would be interested. If someone made her into a fursona it be some sort of lizard most likely.
FFM - Mudd: Mudd would be OVER THE MOON. It would be a HORSE. SHE’S THE HORSE GIRL
Akiram - Evelyn: as someone from a utopian society she doesn’t properly know what animals actually are so she’d be extremely confused and intrigued by the concept. It would be a bat
20- What's one thing your character would like to change about their day to day life?
Melantha - Samir: the mental exhaustion that has been ongoing since he began medical school. He would like to be able to have a a home cooked meal without stressing over what was put in it.
Rise - Chevelle: her living situation. Being a supernatural hunter does not result in a steady home life or a steady roof over ones head. If it wasn’t for her need to protect her brother she’d give it up but she can’t leave him.
Rise - Eddie: the way people react to her. She’s a very masculine bisexual and people treat her as if she was a man and act like she appreciates locker room talk especially when it’s directed towards her girlfriend
Akiram - Tate: less chaotic friends. And by friends they mean Solomon and the crazy need to be free.
Akiram - Max: a better workplace environment. Working for a company that does not provide actual information on what they do as a company.
