I’ve drawn this thing before but it never really had a proper name that actually stuck until recently so
“Akiyue” is a harvest spirit and (minor) fire elemental that awakens each year at the start of Autumn to help usher in the season and returns to hibernation at the onset of Winter. Capable of flying endlessly without tiring at incredible speeds (its life force is generated by the ever-burning fire in its head, which is where the will-o’-the-wisps usually floating around it also come from), its shadow causes all plants that fall within it to wither and take on their beautiful fall colors. It didn’t always have a giant Jack-o’-Lantern for a head (its “actual” face is a bit more intimidating), but it adopted it after observing human beings reacting positively towards them to appear more benign, particularly towards children, who are the only ones who can naturally see it unless it chooses to make itself visible to older people. It usually changes the expression to something more friendly/cutesy than this when near children though
It doesn’t need to eat but its fire changes colors when you throw different candies in the head and kids seem to find that amusing
