Favorite Kids Books: La fabuleuse cuisine de la route des epices
I found and fell in love with this book in autumn, Paris 2009. I love it more for myself than for my kids. This gorgeously large format book is a visually rich journey of spices, countries and flavors, stopping in places from India to Morocco to China and beyond. For each spice, there are an accompanying 60 recipes and stories, all tailored with kids in mind (in reading w/o trying the recipes, I found them perfect for me and most too complex in flavor for my kids - if you've tried any of them in this book, let me know!).
Inside this treasure trove of recipes and stories, there is much to learn, explore and taste along the way. If I could, I would hop on the next train to take this journey of flavors around the world for real!
Morocco and Ras el Hanout (which roughly translates as 'spice mix from the head of the shop')
Middle East (Bagdad) and Badiane (star anis)
Middle East and Cannelle (cinnamon)
By the end of this book, I feel as though I've taken the journey after all.....
