Watching British television and then watching American television is like racing down a snowy mountain on skis, the feeling of thrill coupled with the sensations of wind blowing past your face and the sight of nature’s beauty all around you and then suddenly, as if out of nowhere, you’re clothes-lined directly in the trachea by a low-hanging telephone wire, nearly decapitating yourself. You tumble down the mountain side, slowly becoming a cartoon-ish snowball of embarrassment, disgrace, and disaster, before you slowly come to a halt, desperately trying to reassemble yourself and smooth your wrinkles before the glaring face of true entertainment.
